Your random repower projects?
Posted by Darth Santa Fe on Thursday, February 11, 2010 10:45 AM

Just thought I'd start a topic to see everyone's creativity with repowering thier trains.Big Smile I'll start with a few of my own.

My most recent one. It's a single axle drive in an Athearn RDC, using gears from a CD drive and a Bachmann worm, and a Mashima motor that I've been trying to find a place for. It runs surprisingly well.Big Smile

Something I tried a while ago in an AHM switcher. It's a double-worm reduction drive which I've since disassembled. It sort of ran, but not well. It had a top speed of about 15 scale MPH!

Most of you probably know this one by now. It's the new scratch-built drive for my Tyco Chattanooga Choo Choo, using Athearn gears and a coreless motor.

My Lindsay powered Athearn GP40. The old gears went bad, so I put new NWSL gears in. That little 60 year old(?) power truck is a nice runner!Big Smile

Another one of my classic projects.Big Smile It's a new drive for my Bachmann DD40X. It's kind of noisy, but it runs a lot better than the old single truck drive!

There's some of my projects. Now let's see some of yours!Big Smile

Hello nice work there Darth. This is a old Riv Bigboy I found at a show it was 50$ so I grab it. It was in sad shape. I put two new gear box's in and new motor. It runs fine when I can keep it form shorting out. It has some lose spots some where that I need to fix. This is my first re motor job so I need to work out all the bugs.

Keep up the good work Frank
