This is the first I heard of this, I would never have guessed a contributor driven forum would have to shut down at all. I just made my first posts over there in the past few days.
These forums are a great place to discuss any and all things related to railroading, as for controversy, get 3 people in a room and you'll have it, especially when the topic is something that matters alot to them.
Maybe someone needs to start a no holds barred get it off your chest forum that folks can go to knowing ahead of time that it might get rough.
This was my first forum, the guys made me feel welcomed and at home, so I won't miss Atlas' too much, but it was a fun place to visit. Guess I'll have more time now for yardwork.[censored][banghead][|(][:(!][:(!][:(!]

well you orphans, you talk the talk , now walk the walk:
Why don't start that SPF topic right away !
if its fun it must be good!
btw: I do not know where SPF stands for, is it similar to DOS or NES? or is it more TCS ?

SPF - "Saturday Photo Fun" - well, "Sunday" but it tends to start on Saturday!

Folk post photos of their recent work or newest locos.

A GREAT thread, but can we post photos here ????

ADDED: Ya beat me, Mike!

You can post pictures on here, but only if they are on the internet somewhere,
by pasting their webadress and name inbetween the [ img] [ /img] command.
remove the spaces in the commands.
there is also explanation of all kinds of commands in "show forum code ' , next to the quick reply box.

When it starts, its mostly saturday in USA, but already Sunday in Europe. Some people from GB or Germany started it in the past.

I would think one big SPF would be fun. I had only recently started popping over to check out the N scale one, and they had some outstanding stuff (as did the HO one I more actively participated in). Don't publish your scale, make people guess!

Hi, Cruikshank here from Atlas. I just came back from vacation to find Atlas on vacation until August. Big surpise. There was a lot of great sharing and photos there for a Newbie like me. So I guess I'll be spending more time here now. Dave from PA trying to model Reading in "N"

Yeah I"m here too, I miss the Atlas Forum a lot, but we"ll survive I bet, I wasn"t expecting them to shut it down this early, or for so long, anyway it"s good to see some of our Atlas members here, so everything is not a total loss, you Guys take it easy, and stay in touch.

I'm Rossford Yard on Atlas forums. I registered here a year ago, or so, but generally prefer the activity level at Atlas. I am actually going to try to use the down time to break my "habit" of spending a few work/home hours a day on Model Railroad forums......

Because I also frequent Golf and Hockey Boards, so its really cutting into my productive time.....

MoPac1 here...I'm using my HO scale RR name on this forum...Joppa Sub.
The Atlas forum had alot of the pranking going on lately as well. There were a couple of guys on the forum that some of us thought may have been the same person posting to themselves to cause trouble (trolling). My guess is that Paul Graf and Rob have other things to do besides police the forum. They just announced the C40-8W for the Dash 8 guys and all should have been well.

Maybe they want to spend their time working on new releases in July-August-Sept.? I know that I'll spend two months on Model Railroading and some major kitbashing that has been waiting to get done!!

Got another Atlas forum orphan here too. I like bouincing around between that forum and this one, because each have a different character to them. I guess I'll be a one forum gossiper for the next couple of months!
