Well I see its lunch time and no "weekend photo fun"????  I guess I will start it.

Here's a shot over my plant.  Its a older shot, but one of my favorites.

I might as well slip mine in here. An RBOX that was done up for me by Robby P. The photo doesn't do it justice.

Nicely done weathering, especially the truck side frames and wheels.

Hi from Belgium,

I begun to work on this old  Nscale Heljan/Walthers six stall roundhouse last week end.

I added brick pilaster on all the corner of the backside and a stone fondation for a better look.

I also put doors on the two side walls from Grant Line.

A small repair shop was also added and completely scratchbuild.

I added also brick pilaster inside to cover the big join in the side and back walls.

I also modified the roof, yet not finished, by erasing the "Hejan details" and will cover it with tar roofing paper.

I also prepare inspection pit to put between the rails.

I hope to finish it this week end.

Here some pictures of this evening just after I finish the mortar join.

Bachman-made 0n30 Mogul on the test rollers.  Pretty smooth runner - doesn't appear to be too bad on the rails either.

This week I got around to building a 60' center beam flatcar with an Athearn 50' flatcar and styrene. Since this went well (took about one afternoon and evening to build) I'm going to do 2 more.

What I used:
1 1/3 Athearn 50' flatcars
0.040 x 0.040 styrene
0.015 styrene sheet
0.060 x 0.188 styrene
1/32 x 1/8 flat brass strip (for underside support)

Looks like we're off to another good start to the weekend.

I finished a couple of Campbell oil tanks and have them in place at the oil distributor.  I need to do some more work on the ground cover, add some piping, and add some signs to the tanks.

Great work on those tanks, Tom.  Cool  I really like what you have done on the structure to the left rear as well.  Nice work.

I resort to a B&W this week.  And overview of Seneca Falls Sub yard.

Looking good guys.

Got some new stuff in.

The progress on the switching layou has stopped for now. The parents got a new desk so I do have a fold-up table to work with. I just have to make a plywood cover for it.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Great stuff people. I have been back to work on my famililies 150 year old farm. Modeling specific people in actual poses and modeling specific trees is a new challenge for me. The tree with the scyth is a model of a tree from 70 years ago. All we have now is a picture with the scyth blade sticking out of the tree. We can only guess that 70 years ago my Great Grandfather hung the scyth after harvest and it hangs there to this day though embedded.

 How about some commuter service?

Old Arnold shorties revived for MARC service.  Another paint shop project from the Hagerstown Shops.  Next is the GP40WH to properly pull them!

Aside from the paint, the other main improvement was swapping the factory Arnold wheels (Beyond Pizza Wheel, more like the Pit and the Pendulum) with 36" wheels from Bachmann freight trucks.  Now they roll freely and operate flawlessly on c55 rail.

For ARTHILL:

Hi Art

Can you tell me what you used for tree trunks in the second and third photo?  That second photo made me do a double take, "Is that a model?". Great looking scene you are building there.

Thanks, Tom

Back to Tom,

The trees are made from:

1. Sage Brush branches I picked off a hillside near Mesa AZ

2. Super Tree branches, glued to the Sage Brush with Rockler's CA glue and their spray accelerator

3. Noch leaf material, attached with hair spray.

These are not hard and expermentation was more useful than instruction. The fun part was picking the trunks because they are models of specific trees from that farm yard.

Hi Art,

Sagebrush huh, I was afraid of that...not much chance of finding any of that around Cincinnati.

Thanks for the info,

Tom
