I am almost done with my first AlClad painted passenger car. MEC 244 is an HO scale P-S lightweight from an IHC undecorated kit. The green stripe on the windows photographed lighter that is actually is.

The IHC interior has ben kitbashed and painted to resemble the interior of the portotype MEC coach.

All that remins is to install the lighting kit that is on order, add a few more passengers, and maybe replace the diaphragms.

George .... The Coach Looks great! Bravo!

Robby .... The weathering look fantastic on the box car.

Below is my fictional GN "Plainesman" operating with running rights on my fictional divison of the Burlington. The observation car has lighted drumhead and marker lights, and (oops) I left a red wire visible in the window of the obs..

Now I've ballasted the dual gauge turnouts at Silver Creek. Still missing the switch stand and more scenery.

But I'm content with my throw bar.

Still building and weathering the many, many kits and RTR's I've accumulated over the last 20 years or so.  The nice thing is that in this time of no jobs, SS checks not going far enough, etc., I still have lots of modeling to do now without having to spend any money. Big Smile

Never hurts to "pick up a deal" and put it away for those "stormy" times.

Hope to have a pic or two next week of the old Model Diecasting Roundhouse 0-6-0T kit I've started.

I finished building some ballast cars for my railroad. Each car was built out of the small Walthers ore cars. The cars are set up to function in a 2 to 4 car unit (only the cars on the ends have working couplers). Sometime I'll get around to building loads for them.

Thanks, Mike. If you're referring to the "bottle brush", It depends on the way they are trimmed with scissors. DJ.

We are off to a great start once again I see!

I haven't been doing much of anything photogenic this week.  Just finishing some paperwork and waiting to see when my layout can be judged.  In the meantime, I started assembling a Tichy Train Group Flat car.  I had a box of 6 kits sitting on the shelf so I figured I would get one started.

The parts before assembly:

An almost completed car (still have a few more details to install) waiting to be painted.  The shot also includes most of the tools needed to assemble the car.  It is definitely not a "shake the Box" kit.  It has a lot of very small parts and very fine details.  It is very, very well manufactured and comes with excellent instructions.  Everything fits where it should, parts are well marked, and no flash to trim or scrape off.

The top of the car:

Bottom detail (very nice brake detail that needs to be fit and installed):

Next step after adding a couple more grab irons is to go to the paint booth....

Yeah the bottle brush you make is sweet.  The hardwoods are great looking as well.  I like those better than the supertrees. Great Job as always sir!!

">Installed insanely small grabs on Walther's Super Chief cars until my hands cramped and I could not hold my beer.  Moved on to weathering some F89 flats and containers.

Started with an oil wash followed by an application of gouache and chalk then sealed with Dullcote. I then finished the trucks with rust and washes of grimy black and dust.

Playing with the camera again. Santa Fe SD 40-2 heading to K-10 mill to pick up some hoppers.

One in Black and White for the old time look.

Hope to get some more work done this weekend. Have a problem turnout on a turn that is causing wheels to pick.

 Nice work everyone!

I finally finished some of my project engines:

These are the newer atlas shells on the Kato drives. A little bit of cutting and filling and the shell fits just right. I used some styrene superglued to the frame to make the pad for mounting kadees, then drilled the holes for some screws I had in my parts drawer.

NCE-DASR decoders and LED lighting were also added.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Cox 47

Cox,

Where did you get that freight station, and how old is it?  I swear I built the very same model back when I was about 10 years old.  And that's saying it was a loooong time ago.  It was my first introduction to the concept of model railroad scales,.  The model is (or was in my case) HO scale and I built if for my American Flyer train set.  Didn't quite look right for some reason....

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

Same for me. That freight station I built on the early 60s was a Revell kit; I still have it

I have been working on two projects: Renumbering CR 8715 (ex Reading 1515), I still need handrails and headlight numbers. Also the truck sideframes need to be roller bearing (Des Plains Hobbies DPH 2006 for P2K). It was already sound equipped.

The other project is painting and adding a LokSound to an older ALCO Samhongsa SW. Reading 10 was on the property in 1937 and sent back to LaGrange for a rebuild/trade to SW 800m in 1956. The original 10 as shown has a Winton 201, sound file available from Litchfield Station. I do not see the Winton 201 on the LokSound site so I think this is custom. It sounds and runs great. The original ALCO Samhongsa had a nice can motor. It has a little gear noise but was worth the effort to have this little switcher that worked the industrial areas and waterfront in Philadelphia.

Hope you enjoy them both. Chris

It is very gratifying to see all the variety and nice images.  Dave, your Enola Yard is developing very nicely.  It should be another showpiece before too long, the rate you are going.

My image this weekend is of a (Lionel) UP Challenger departing Seneca Falls.
