In changing out plastic for metal on Walthers cars, merely getting the old wheels out, the Reboxx reamer in and out, and the new wheels in, is a major effort. There is very little flex in the side frames on the Walthers Gold Series container and 89"4" cars I have encountered so far. What is the trick to more easily spreading the side frames aside from muscle (and just finding a leverage point is not easy)?

if your referring to getting the wheels out of the old plastic frames I have broken more then one set, I found that if you run them under hot water and then try it give a little more flexibility.
Thanks. I thought about heat but did not want to run the risk of permanently distorting the trucks. Athearn trucks are no problem, just these Walther's.
Hot water works most of the time. I know it is hard but you really have to try. Walthers is pretty good at replacement parts when needed.
