I just got an e-mail from BLI announcing the re-run of their HO California Zephyr passenger cars. I've got a set of the original run and they're absolutely exquisite.
But my question is: WHERE'S THE DAYLIGHT?
Wasn't BLI supposed to be coming out with several sets of the "Coast Daylight" cars a few years back? Anyone know what happened to them?
N-scalers have a perfectly beautiful set from Kato, but we HO'ers are still waiting for a "Daylight". From ANYONE!
So, wha' hoppen?

We can only hope the October schedule for the 1941 Daylight cars is still correct. The 53 train which I prefer with the large Southern Pacific lettering is due in December. The rerun probably cost less since the tooling was already done and it had been scheduled to arrive ahead of the daylight train.
I emailed BLI to find out if the dome windows on the Zephyr cars were corrected to be flush, but they have not been updated.

I have a set of B B kits. Must be 15 years ol age. Haven't run them in 5 or 6 years.

Tom and others,
It looks like the Daylight has been rescheduled for March '10 and the 1941 pre-war and 1953 post-war cars have been pushed back to November '09 and January '10, respectively. Here's the updated schedule, as of today:

CZ--Tom:
Thanks for the update, guys. Looks as if my brass Balboa GS-4 still has some waiting to do for its train, LOL!
Oh well, at least Sunset has promised my Z-6 Challenger by the end of this year. Which means I'll have until March of 2010 to save up for the Daylight.
I keep telling myself "Patience is a Virtue, Patience is a Virtue, Patiece is a------"

I have not heard any update on the Z6 from Sunset. Did a dealer give you that schedule or Sunset directly?? I had emailed Sunset about a month ago and got the old no response from them.
Thanks

Just going by the update I found yesterday on their new website. It said (and I quote), "The locomotive will be released near the end of 2009---REALLY!" That's what I'm going on. I'm hoping they're not just blowing air, (or Alco whistles, LOL)!
We'll see, but I've got hope. This is the first indication that there's some kind of actual timeline for that beautiful baby.

I checked out the web site and it does look like they believe the models will be here fairly soon. I would guess January at the latest and hope the HO models have close to the same detail quality as the O scale model they show on the web site.
I have one of the Sunset A3's and one of the A4's with sound. Both run very well and both are very nice locomotive considering the price I paid. The PSC model of the same engine is three times the amount, but it does have about two times the detail. Somehow, that does not work out in dollars for detail!. HA.
I will pick up one of the Z6's also if they run as well as the A class models.
As I'm a heavyweight guy, the release of Daylight lightweights isn't of interest. Now, a 1948-1953 SP Owl would be something quite the opposite. Even a Del Monte or a heavyweight Klamath set would be welcome.
