Great work guys, here is a slightly off topic photo.

This little Carpet Snake decided to pay my layout a visit, certainly woke me up when I shifted the sheet of foam!

Funny I am more concerned about large spiders than I am of this guy, and no he/she isn't poisonous.

ngartshore........ By coincidence, I, too, had a snake in the train room today. First time that has ever happened to me. Mine was also harmless. It was a common water snake.

 Great work this weekend everyone!

 Worked my tail off today and got the yard completely soldered, next I'll mark holes for feeders, remove the track, drill the holes, paint the layout foam for a scenery base, then put the track back on, and wire it up. Then on to the town.

I got to spend the day at the home of Ned Spiller MMR.  We had an executive board meeting for the NMRA Division there and then got to see his layout.  This layout was first created in Dallas Tex. and then shipped to Hammondsport  NY when he an his wife moved here 3 years ago.  he is in the porcess of putting it back together in what was originally a garage in the house.  He is also expanding the layout to "fill up" the available space.

Slow week for me but I did add a headlight to my shay

I used the tip of a clear plastic ballpoint pen for the lens

also added a tender light but need to find a rtr reversing circut before I connect it

 Not sure if I ever shared this photo here. This is the beginnings of the Cemex dealer in Victorville CA. The hopper is on the only track that will service Cemex and the loco is ready to move on with his train now that the southbound train has cleared.

 

I like this scene to but have since moved the cement plant. Some day I will add some ground cover and actually detail the area.

Nice looking layout.  Hammondsport, you say?  I used to have relatives in Penn Yan, at the north end of Keuka Lake.  I've been to Hammandsport numerous times but never did see the Bath & Hammondsport RR in action.  Beautiful country, though.

Garry:  Nice shot!    Of course, as you already know, I've got a weakness for anything Burlington.  I like that Alco.  And I really like the stockyard. 

One question--is the Burlington reefer behind the alco possibly an older steel Varney?  Sure looks like one.  And if so---YUMMY!    I've got some older Varney rolling stock that I still keep busy on the Yuba River Sub.  Neat cars.

Okay, one more from me: 

2-8-2 #1208 running as 'helper' for 2-10-2 #1400 with a heavy manifest freight crossing Bullards Bar bridge.  Actually, the 2-8-2 isn't really needed, as it's on a westbound 1% descending grade.  It's simply attached to the freight because it's running west to Deer Creek to help balance out the typical WWII power shortage on the road.

A little fuzzy, I know.  Either my eyes or the camera are having a few focus problems lately.

Great stuff as usual guys!
I have been recovering from a bout with pneumonia the last few weeks so haven't gotten much done on the layout.

Here is a photo of NYC S-3 #874 doing a little switching on the Farmer's Union siding.

I got my sheet of decals from Roland this week, so the Ridgely paint shop has been working overtime.


The lion's share of the work went to re-numbering the ever growing hopper car fleet.  The font is a wee bit off, and I made the numbers a half-point too big, but hell, my eyes aren't getting any younger...  In addition to changing the numbers on the 70 tonners, I also added some "wood chip loading only" markings to those six cars, and started to renumber some Atlas 55 ton cars to carry the number series of the H-29 and H-32 rebuilds that were done in the late 60's.  (All the factory numbers from Atlas so far are 1940's numbers the cars originally carried.)

Then, I went back to work on the WMRHS Challenger.  Victor repaired the motor for me, and I took it down to the club to give it a good work out on the N track rig there.  It ran for over an hour without a hiccup.  So this weekend, I added tender pickups (Thanks, Chris!) to hopefully make it run even better, and started working on the cosmetics... I replaced the snow plow which had gone missing, and added some paint and weathering.  It's still needs a few odds and ends, and I'd really like to put an all-weather cab on it.  But first, I have to figure out why I'm getting a dead short... I've checked all the obvious things, but somewhere there's a ghost in the machine...



But at least it looks good!

Finally, I went to work on a project that's been on the books for a couple of months now...  At long last, it's in the paint shop!

 Well a late posting, I felt bad Sunday and did nothing. Did not feel great but not as bad as I did Sunday. Got the interchange redone from the A Line to the C Line. Took longer than it should but seems to work well. Only my GE AC 6000 UP does not like it.

 Had to get some drill bites from Home Depot and score a damaged 2 inch thick section of foam for $5.00.

 Got the bridges back up, one still needs some work at the turnout but should not be hard.

 K-10 mine is finally paying for it self. Made the first revenue run today! K-10 mining is on a Monon line.

 Big Boy is heading back to the A Line (UP) and is waiting till the Coal train makes it out.

 

 I have got one the Reversing Module ready to be installed. Added more foam to K-10 Mountain ready to be cut and painted and there is 2 dozen more trees. Still have a little over a dozen ready.

 Boy, if I felt good for both days off!
