Sawyer....At least it was a tie.  I played soccer for 10+ years, and I met a few beasts.

Yeah man. Course, I'm also a beast (and I say this humbly), and they were a challenge to defend. And the team we play Thursday is also gonna be a challenge, but hey, I like testing myself and my skills.

Hello ..

We returned home at about 2:00 am from a busy trip to MI and OH.

I found the prior diner as well as this one. I've only looked briefly.

Good to see Ulrich is back.

I missed Sallie's b'day, but Jerry you can still tell her happy late b'day.

Gee, lots of other stuff going on! ... I hope Jeff's foot operation was Okay.

We're only here one day. Then we're headed to TN. I have medical appointments Friday, and that will most likely be OK..

Cheers.

Morning guys.  Well, good news and bad news.  I didn't get the assistant manager's position at Advance, but they are more than willing to offer me a part-time position for the pay-rate that I asked for.  It'd only be 20-30 hours a week (not exactly what I want, but oh well), but hey it puts me back into the auto-parts and repair world (where I have all my experience).  Just going to talk it over with Amy and make sure that things are going to be okay.

Vincent, thanks for ID'ing the locomotive for me, I really appreciate it.

Guys, thanks for all the laughs, I've really enjoyed all the Monty Python lines being bantered about.  Well, I have a rough track-plan drawn up for my railroad, now I just have to get it somehow put here onto the computer (never been really good at drawing up trackplans on here.  I do have XTrkCAD on the desktop, but I suck at it, for lack of a better term.  I've tried the Atlas program and just haven't been able to get the grasp of it, guess I just do better hand-drawing stuff.  I'm going to do my best to color-code things so they'll pop out in a picture and so that you guys can see them.

You know, I've been on here for a little while now and I believe that I've not ever told y'all my actual name, so please forgive me.  I'm Eddie (or y'all can just keep calling me Bama)

Good morning. Sweet roll and a cup of coffee please. Thanks.

Imagine my disappointment at learning I have missed opening day of burning season. It was yesterday. I had my days mixed upDisapprove. Oh well, I guess I'll do some layout work again.Big Smile

After the fade now I'm trying to age the boxcar guinea pig a bit. But I can't seem to get this black wash thing to not leave an ameba looking stain so to speak. Is it something I'm doing wrong? I use a brush and apply the wash to the top of the car sides and tried to let the wash run down, that didn't work so I brushed down the sides. That appeared to work until it dried leaving the blotches. I washed the wash off and tried again to the same results. I'll take a picture, but if it doesn't turn out then I won't post. You've seen how my (really Brenda's ) camera does on closeupsThumbs Down. I'm using Folk Art pigments if that matters. I think Jeff said he uses the stuff. I might be wrong about that.

Ray- Thanks for the laugh!!!Laugh They sure make sure they use enough explosives! I just love Monty Python and watch it every chance I get. Unfortunately the local PBS does not show them anymore. They will on the telethon week, and then "poof" no more. Oddly enough I never thought of hitting the Youtube for a silly fix.

Ulrich- GREAT to see you stopped in and brought a laugh with you! Life of Brian is my third favorite movie. Yes, yes, yes, we have the same centers here. Most times they are referred to as Nursing Homes and they have the rehabilitation services there. I know them well, my Mother has been in and out of them with her broken hips and a several cracked vertebrae. I sure hope the food over there in those places is better than over here.

Lee- A sparrow? Carrying a coconut? Don't be silly. A sparrow can't carry a coconut.

He he, I see J.R. is a Python fan. "wafer thin"

I asked my wife what she wanted to do for our anniversary. She said she'd like to go someplace she'd never been before. I said, "try the kitchen". (rimshot)

Have a Great Day!!

 Good morning.

It's 72 with light fog. The high will be in the mid 80's and you guessed it, there's a chance of rain.

Yesterday I replaced the Kadee #5 couplers on 2 tank cars and 2 covered hoppers with Kadee #119 shelf couplers. The couplers on the tank cars will be left as is but the couplers on the covered hoppers will have the top shelf trimmed off so they'll the proper type lower shelf couplers we so often see on hoppers. The report from the foot doc yesterday was good. The wound on the bottom of my right foot is starting to fill in and the stitched up incision in the side is healing well. The wound on the bottom of my left big toe is closing up some also. I go back Monday to get my stitches out. I went by the pharmacy to see if they had the final item on my list of 6 meds done. They did so I picked it up. A whopping $1 co-pay. Like that's gonna break the bank. Since Medicaid cut my number of prescriptions a month from 8 to 5 the process of getting meds has spawned more bugs than a bait shop. I have enough #119 couplers to convert 2 more covered hoppers today. I'll have to order more couplers at the end of the month. I still have 13 covered hoppers and 5 tank cars to convert. One project that's been on the back burner for a number of months is swapping out the body shell of one of my Atlas GP40's with a Bachmann GP40 body shell. I still have to pre-drill the holes in the shell for the wires that join the trucks of the two Atlas locos together.

Good Morning All,

I actually posted yesterday but the 'puter ate my post (was it something I said?) I'll have a regular to go - no breakfast but perhaps just one thin after dinner mint?

To recap, Lime Rock andWatkins Glen went well, we're close to getting a C.O. for the house and I fanally got to go back to a MRR night at the museum last night. Still w..king on the new O gage with the N and HO waiting in the wings for attention.

Any ideas on the most reliable track for N? We need to replace much of the mainline for the automated display in the museum - it's old Atlas and just flat worn out. The display gets tons of running so reliability is more important than looks.

After we get back in the house I'm still at least a year away from restarting the layout so I'm considering an HO 4 x 8 to keep my hand in. I have a pamphlet from Kalmback with 5 variations of tabletop roads and may go with one of those.

It's good to see Ulrich back in the CS and I hope now that things have dialed back a bit I'll be in more often.  Catch Y'all later,   J.R.

I am not about to draw my terminal breath - no, Sir!

Good Morning, Flo - I´ ll just have a quick coffee, may I stay here at the RC?

Folks, you have been posting so much in the past days, I just can´t catch up!

Yesterday was  not a good day, too much pain kept me in bed - ouch. When I finally pulled myself together and walked to the cafe, it had closed for the day...Sad

On Friday, I am supposed to be able to go home for the weekend. On Monday, I will be taken to a convalescence  center for further recovery. This is a hospital-like institution where they do all sorts of exercises especially for patients with cardiac problems. I will have to stay there, say, for three weeks. I am allowed to take my notebook with me, so I can link up with you folks in the Diner.

Petra has made some more Strudel for you -  I leave that here with Flo!

Have a good one!

Good evening. Fairly busy at the restaurant tonight and I'm as tired as a Henny Youngman joke.

Think I'll hit the hay now that the Monty Python shtick is over. That is possibly the funniest movie I have ever seen. I watch it frequently. Followed by Life of Brian.

Well best get to sleep, I've got to go back to the pet store tomorrow and return the parrot. It's dead. The only reason the thing is on the perch and not pushing up daisies is because it's feet are nailed to it.

I think I'll just "chil" as those younger chaps say, here at the RC...maybe Ulrich will stop by...it should be getting close to morning for him. Might even buy him a German doctor approved breakfast if the opportunity presents itself.

Chocolate brownie, please.

***Bama, I can't help you with switcher ID, but did enjoy spending time typing in a few locations, finding RR tracks and following them to various Plants. Amazing detail with the Bird's Eye view.

Made it to the train room to test the new (N scale) Kato SD70M. It runs OK, but is noisy compared to the Kato SD90/43MAC (which is barely audible). It also has lights with a green hue, whereas the larger engine has bright white (blue tint) lights. The SD70M also runs much much faster on the same current, so with DC they cannot be run together (unless I stick a LOT of cars behind the fast one to slow it down). I didn't think to look for a production date, but perhaps one is an older model?

Still utterly exhausted. Need to go feed old Sandy and then call it a night. Wife stayed with her folks another day and will take her Dad to a scheduled Docs app tomorrow. He seems better tonight.
