Two tank car questions: 100th POST!
Posted by kasskaboose on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 1:18 PM

Could I easily run a line of 23,000 and 33,000 gallon Atlas and Athearn tank cars (to include the whale bellies) on a curve of 21 inches?  If not, what's the min radius I need for such tank cars? As a point of reference,I had no issue with three Trainman hoppers in a consist and each measured 7.5 inches.

Where to purchase in-expensive Atlas and Athearn tank cars?  I saw many online places wanting $18+ each!  I checked toytrainheaven, firsthobby, and caboosehobbies.

TIA!

You should be able to run them on anything 18" or larger - maybe even smaller, although it may look goofy!!

BTW, my 2500th post!!Cool

The trick is to watch every place and watch for sales.

P.S.  I hope your 100 posts have been meaningful.

I have both of these cars and I run them on 18" curves and they look and run fine. Check out MB Klein www.modeltrainstuff.com for low prices. I just got two atlas adm grain cars that retail for $29.95 and I got them each for $12.99 FYI, check out the HO clearance items
