1 ounce + 1/2 ounce

I'm having trouble with this...what exactly is '1 oz. plus 1/2 oz.' mean? There's probably more to this equation, and I'd like to find the proper weight for my rolling stock now that I have a digital kitchen scale. My gray hair is getting grayer with the confusing info. I'm getting. Thanks for the help.
