Blue Line roof vent replacements
Posted by Richard491 on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 9:04 PM

ventHello- I'm looking for replacement HO gauge roof vents for some old Blue Line 85' streamlined passenger cars I've built from 1950's Blue Line kits. The plastic originals in my kits had disintegrated with age. The vents are about 5/16 inch wide. I've gone through the Walthers online catalog (only some items are illustrated) without any luck. I'd appreciate any help on this. Regards- Richard W.

Those appear to be Garland roof vents, available from Eastern Car Works, item #117-9126.

Wayne- Thank you for your reply. Regarding Garland roof vents: the ones I've seen are for use up against the raised clerestory on that type of roof. This is the commonly used vent on heavyweight cars. The ones I'm seeking are semi-circular (as in the illustration) and were for streamlined car roofs- Blue Line used them on their mail-baggage cars (12 vents per car) and on their combine and diner (1 vent each). So I don't think the Eastern Car Works vents would be the ones I need. Regards- Richard White
