We're moving to a retirement community, and my long-time collection of Model Railroader magazines can't go with us to the smaller cottage there. I have nearly all issues since 1948 (60 years worth!), and about half of that year. The ones from the 1950s have been sorted out from the copies of Trains with which they’ve been stored, the more recent one have not been sorted (I’m running out of time!).
They're free for pick-up at 620 Rock Creek Rd, Chapel Hill, NC. Ideally, some one would take them all, but if no one offers to do that by Aug 3, it's first come first served for any part of them. They could be shipped, at your expense. Whatever is still here Aug 12 will be discarded.

If you can't find anyone who wants them, you might consider giving the newer issues to a community center that deals with kids. It might be a way to encourage young people to get interested in model railroading as a hobby.

I wish I were closer to take you up on that, there are several years I need to fill out my collection. Someday I hope to have ALL years - and yes I've read them all and gleaned useful advice from even the ones from long before my time.

If no one wants all of them, I would like to suggest two more environmentally friendly ways of disposition instead of dumping them into a landfill:
1. See if you have a local library that would take them. Here we have a volunteer organization called "The Friends of the Library" that runs a used book/magazine store. Funds raised by them then go to support the community library.
2. Newspapers and magazines are a recyclable item here, and then become cardboard boxes.
You could also donate to a local railroad historical society, NMRA division, model railroad club, etc. Some of these raise money by selling them at train shows.

Oh my God! What do you figure shipping might be? I live in Florida (Southwestern Florida) but to have a coolection like that would be awesome! If shipping is too costly, maybe I could talk my brother into driving down from Richmond, VA (slim chance). But if you can figure what the shipping charge might be we might be able to work something out! We have a club here in Ft. Myers that has a lot of years but not a collection like that! Let me know!!
