Not if you've had a few to many and the infamous "FHP" is behind you. At least on the ocean you have weaving room. [:D][:D]

Good Morning all. And Good Afternnon to our old country friends. Dawn is just now breaking and the sky is beautiful. Venus is bright in the east and the moon is 3/4 full westward. NO RAIN! Just a mild breeze. Wish everyone has a good day.

I hope to get the contol pannel more advanced today, but then again, that's what I wanted last week too. Well, it's ben a little chilly around here, frosted last ngiht, and it supposed to freeze tonight. 'Scuse me, need to get a blanket, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'd like to go into some railroad-related industry if I make a good deal of money doing it, something in the manufacturing industries/steel industry/transportation is probably going to be my employer some day.

And it's getting colder here too, although maybe not permanently for the moment, tonite it's supposed to frost, but then the rest of the week it's supposed to either stay in the low 70s or the low 60s-hight 50s... What we really need here is a rain though, the grain dust is getting pretty bead without anything to dampen it down. OF course, being 200-300 miles south of you guys down here in Illinois, it'll take us 3-4 weeks to get the weather you're getting regularly. But Illinois lately has been having fairly mild winters, anyways.

Well I got to go to the LHS today, and I got a Atlas wide-vision caboose, (CB&Q of course!), and a pair of Zuron sprue nippers, something I've needed for a long time! The caboose is very nice, only I wish I could have gotten it as a kit, I need something to do for the enterity I'm going without a layout!

Fergie [:)]

As for me, I would have rather eaten with you tonight rather than tomorrow. Salmon just isn't my thing. However, I can deal with the burgers, shrimp, and steaks. [:D]

Gosh, no report from John or Teffy. [:(] I was hoping to hear something by now. [:(]

I do know they were enjoying their trip. [:D]

Our weather is pretty nice now. Our high today was 76 and tonight it is to drop below 50 for the first time this fall. I am loving it too. [:)] Before long I might actually have to shut the windows.

Hi Gang; Well I'm just checking in. I haven't had much to say lately. (wife faints) We got the cattle all taken care of. It went very well ,only had one give us any trouble.Best part was no one got hirt. I also got a start on mowing that 15 acres the neighbor is letting me work. Someone with hay fever shouldn't be in agriculture.

I wish you guys would get off the food topic. I'm trying to lose some weight! I did lose about 17 lbs. I think that since the food topic got started I've found 5 of it. Jim, you can come cook for this outfit anytime.

Bill; I can relate to your condition. I tore my right rotator cuff last year. Had to have surgery to repair it. Unfortunately, I didn't know about the forum than.

Fergie; You should know by now that everything will work as intended until guests show up. Just keep at it and remember that sweat causes corrision.

Well. I'm going to head for the basement and try and dig out somemore of the RR. I'm still trying to come up with a plan that will make the best use of the room and give me the operation that I want. I guess I could have a football field size building and still not enough room.Paul

I guess it all depends on how much money and relationships you loose that determine that fine line...........but who drew that line in the sand anyway?

Super elevated curves look nice but are a pain. The Allegheny is burping a bit, the wheels look clean so I don't know what to tell ya. I really don't want to do a major class 1 overhaul. The decals, well that's a whole other story! considering the time and effort I've put into those I'm very disheartened over it. I maybe forced to go to a professional and get these printed off. Big Bucks, to say the least.

Does this hobby of ours get any harder?

Fergie, I saw both movies, BRIGHT LIGHTS kill the gremlins. Just don't get them wet, and don't feed them after midnight. [}:)][:p]

Tom [:D]

There is just something about biscuits to a country boy. Then when it is biscuits AND sausage gravy that really hits the spot. [:p]

My dad was a youngster during the depression and was one of 13 kids. Guess what they ate about every meal. He vowed to himself that he would never eats biscuits and gravy when he grew up. Guess what, lol, he still makes them. [:p]

His chicken gravy on Sundays after church was "to die for". When he cooked fried chicken (since I grew up on a farm there wasn't a shortage of them either) man, what a meal. AND if that wasn't good enough, my chair at the kitchen table looked out over the farm and the train tracks ran right by our farm. Geee, lucky me. [;)]

Alex [:D]

Glad you made it. [:)]

[#welcome]

I am trying to find another way to get you the pics since they didn't work. Maybe someone else can email them to you and that might work. I was talking with Zach (UPTrain) to see if there is some way to do it.

About the railroad job. My mother worked for Frisco, but she was the chief pbx operator and not on a train.

I have volunteered at the Arkansas Railroad Museum and worked the 819 Steam Excursions. I have also road behind the 3985 as a paying passenger and worked the 844 as a car host. I do wish I worked for the railroad but don't.

If you want modeling help between Fergie, Ed, John, Tom, Bill, Noah, and others you can definately find it here. (Sorry if I left anyone out, halftimers you know [;)] )

And speaking of Ed . . . . . Hey Ed, you missed supper. [:p] The turtle did much better this time too. [:D] The roast was super and the potatoes were wonderful. [:p] Leftovers tomorrow for lunch.

John [:)]

I guess Saturday is the big day. [:D]

Lots of surprises in store, I think you will enjoy the day. [8D]

Maybe Teffy can give us an update in the other thread. [;)]

Well since I am off tonight I might go to bed by 11 like normal people do. [;)] Probally have to take a pill though to get me to sleep since I will be going to bed about 4 hours earlier than normal, if I don't I will just lay there and won't sleep.

Well everyone have a good night and a super day. [:)]

Good Evening Everybody,
It's Friday evening and it's been a really good week. We did make it up on Cherloa Skyway yesterday. It was an absolutely beautiful drive. Bright blue skies and the leaves are just starting to change up there. It's about a 40 mile drive once you get up there and most of it is above 4500'. we really enjoyed it. I've got some odds and ends to do tomorrow and then it will be time to work on the railroad. I'm looking forward to it.

FlaPhil, I'm glad your friend came through the storm OK. That's good to hear.

EmeraldIsle, welcome back. Hopefully that will be the last storm for a good long time. This has been the worst season I can remember, far worse than any when I lived in Fla.

Philnrunt, I'm familiar with Hagens Tunnel. I've not been there, but it's a very famous spot among L&N fans. Enjoy!

Ed, I'm a firm believer in nails at the end of tracks that lead off to the edge of the earth. I learned that one the hard way. Intermountain 40' box cars don't bounce very well. So now I have a lot of little nails growing out of the ends of tracks. They may not be pretty but they work.

Fergie, hang in and you'll beat the gremlins back. They come and go. Sorry about the problem with the decals. I've never tried to make my own so I don't have any suggestions on that.

Jim, actually just bisquits and pretty much whatever sounds good to me. We had cheese, egg and bacon bisquits for dinner tonight. Darn the cholesterol, full speed ahead. They were delicious.

Better go for now, hope everybody has a great weekend,
Tom

Jim:
I looked over at the Trains forums for a while and I can see why you don't care for the kissmycaboose7 guy; if I was JunctionFan I'd be ready to ring his neck out, AtonioFP45 probably could teach the idiot a thing or two also, (But can I really imagine Antonio saying an unkind word to someone?) Heck, the guy's even worse than that one kid we had a while back who had to tell everyone this and that about the UP, and if you so much as critisized UP he'd flame you to death, I can't remember his screen name at the moment, but he got a little aggravating too.

He Ed (egmurphy),

Yeah, I fractured my knee cap Tuesday morning in a six car pile up. My truck was vehicle number four in the mess. And yes, it is a PITA. I am hopping around on crutches and watching a lot of TV (DVDs... Homicide Season 5 just came out and it is great!).

The doc says that my knee cap doesn't need to be wired nor do I need a cast (thank goodness!). I just need to stay off of it for a few weeks.

You made me chuckle when I read the comment about "star chasers." The funny thing is, ever since I made that post, I haven't seen anyone make 10 posts in a row on the same thread with only three words per post. [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]

My signature block is still in tact but when I have such close posts, I usually don't put the full sig block on and just use my initials. But I will include it below.

Alex, I haven't worked on a railroad for a living, but I have heard it is kind of rough work. There are a lot of different jobs on the railroads. Those jobs that outdoors can be very hard, since in many cases they have to be done at all hours of the day or night, and in all weather.

Small railroads don't always hire rookies, they often want people with experience. Small railroads may have easier hours than the class ones though.

Why don't you ask this over on the Trains Magazine forum. There are a lot of railroad people over there. Tell them your age too, they'll like to tell you about their jobs.[:)]
