Hi Gang: We got the creek crossing cleaned out but still have to do some repairs. I've got to find some houses under construction that need to have left over rock hauled off. We need some large rock to widen the crossing. Concidering it was originally a cattle crossing I guess it's about time to widen it. That was in the late 1880s.

Greg: That sounds interesting. Would you please send me that website? So how's it been doing?

Nigel: I'll take a closer look at that mine website at work. Much faster connection there. I'm interested in all types of mine machinery. In fact all types of construction machinery. I'm a member of the Historical Construction Machinery ***. An interesting piece of information from the HCEA. They had a tour of the oil sands mines in Alberta this summer. They use 350 ton + haul trucks to haul the sands. When they do maintanance on the trucks they pressure wa***hem before they bring them into the shop. One time they weighed the truck before washing it and than after. It weighed 14,000 lbs less after the washdown. Don't get yourself in trouble asking questions on my behalf. From the map I see that there is a rail line there. Do I see a modeling opertunaty?

Well I think that I'll head for bed. Holly smoke it's only 7:30pm. Oh well I'm pooped. The heat takes it out of you fast.

Good Night All

Okay know for most of you this isn't breaking news as you don't collect O Gauge but heres the latest on lionel/K-Line
QUOTE: K-Line Announcement from Jerry Calabrese
04/25/2006
Dear Friends,

I must confess that I so enjoyed the speculation and armchair lawyering about the future of K-Line that I almost hate bringing it to an end. But, as one of my former mothers-in-law used to say, “Appoint a day and it will come.” After a lot of legal wrangling, the K-Line transaction has finally been concluded. As of last week, right before York, Lionel took control of all K-Line assets, including its inventory, intellectual property, tooling, and trademarks.

Lionel’s deal is with Sanda Kan, K-Line’s principal manufacturer and creditor, who, in turn, worked out its own deal with K-Line’s bankers before we could move forward. Under the terms of our arrangement, Lionel will control and run the K-Line brand, in all respects, and will have the exclusive right to buy it outright sometime in the near future.

Our first step was to take possession of the existing K-Line inventory and move it from its former headquarters in North Carolina. As of today, that’s just about done. Our next challenge is to sort through K-Line’s books and records to make sure that everyone who pre-paid for products receives them. This will take some time, as most of what’s owed to individuals and clubs is not in existing inventory and will have to be manufactured.

As I’ve said before, Lionel is committed to making good on unfulfilled orders. I anticipate that it will take us at least 60 days to sort out what is owed to whom. During that time, I cannot stress strongly enough how much we will need your patience and cooperation. As hard as it may be to control the urge to call us throughout this transition, I would really appreciate it if you will give us a couple of months to figure things out.

One bit of good news is that we’ve already managed to get most of the trains that had been stuck in K-Line’s repair department during its bankruptcy fixed and shipped back to their owners.

Once the smoke clears, we plan to re-launch K-Line later this year, in our second catalog. Because getting the deal done took so long, there will be only a limited line of new products in 2006. But we plan to make them very special. Next year, in 2007, we plan to make K-Line a larger part of the Lionel product line, positioning it with our own LionMaster offerings, in our ongoing effort to offer you even more quality mid-priced choices.

Finally, I’d just like to say thanks to all of the people who worked so long and hard to get this deal done.

Best Regards,

Jerry Calabrese

Evening GREG
Well they always leave us with a lot of dirty dishes in the sink. They are really good people they just don't share our interest. They have two teenagers that go with them every place they go. These are not 13 or 14 yr. olds, these are 17 and 18 years of age. The boy has never built, played with or qwned a model railroad but in his mind he knows more about railroads than you do, Go figure.

And how was your day today? Have you been getting rain up on that Calumet Hill in OKE. Havent had any here in about three weeks now. And the temp is still in the 90's.
Well I think I'll mosie on out of here for now.
Happy Railroading.

Evening all, Barley pop, please
Had quiet day, got part of the garden tilled, Kc n Leroy were here for a spell and so was J Birds. Even got some cleaning done in the shed, a little rail fanning over to the campground and a nap, but nothing to speak of in the train room, just to nice to sit outside.

Paul , seen the 90 day weather forecast this morning, above normal temps, normal to below rain for here. Looked like another hot one for you too.

Other than that not much to report. I've been doing some more thinking on the new layout. I still have some things I'd like to refine but most of it is looking like it will work out. It had better because come heck or high water this is the last one.

I said that too, and here I am on a new one.

John , to bad the layout had to come apart for the move, it sounds like a nice set up you had. Hopefully it’ll be big n better in the future.

Neal stay away from those bike I posted on the last page with road rage.

RT , sounds like K Line is going to still be around anyway. Hope it works out, I liked some of their HO stuff in the past.

Was going to post some pics, but that’ll keep till morn, think I’ll get ready fur bed.

Hello hello hello.

Thank you all for your kind words. You all are just like family to me here. It's always a pleasure to drop by here, even just to say hello. If only I knew more people like y'all in person, life would be easier. At least I have a few friends that are, who I consider, Perfect People. Thank you all.

At the very moment, it doesn't look like we'll be going anywhere. I guess we're trying this again...I wish someone would make up their mind.

Another rain day, especially in Truro where we went for #2 grandson’s 11th bd celebration. The kids get to choose where to eat for these dos, and this time it was Subway. He had a Chicken Caesar, and a couple of bags of potato chips. Toasted parmesan – oregano cheese steak with onions, tomato, a few chilies and olives for yours truly.

We bought a used shed a year or two after moving here (Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia) so that I could hold my head up in public. Before that I was a “shedless male”, Oh the shame! [:D]

Nigel: Since we are talking heavy movers, here’s a beaut from the Athabasca Oil Sands.

Scott: Give it time to sort itself out. That’s hard when you want everything to be fixed and stable. Wasn’t it PC who said they need your support, or something like that? Anyhoo, you know we are pulling for you.[angel]
I see that Don Hupp had joined us when I reloaded the page. [#welcome] Don, what’s your pleasure?

Phone survey on IT for the museum tomorrow, Oh Joy. Then it’s more set up in the p.m. while Kris is at the gym. Maybe later in the week I’ll be able to get back at the layout.
Time for bed[zzz] Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.[angel]

Wow! Weather was great today, highs in the low 80's and humidity in the 20% range.

Well, Monique and Ben left this morning for the school trip to DC. She just called me after arriving at the hotel finally. They toured the Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Wall, Albert Einsteain Statue, Arlington National Cemetary and watched the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the JFK Gravesite, and the Eternal Flame. Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial too.
Then they went to the Iwo Jima Memorial, the FDR Memorial, walked across Lafayette Park and Pennsylvania Avanue to the White House.
Then they finally ate dinner and arrived at the hotel around 10 pm. And it all started with a 5 hour bus ride at 6:30 am.
Tomorrow is full of the Smithsonian Museums and the National Cathedral tour.

So, guess what I did all day by my lonesome? Yep, 9 hours in the train room putting up brackets and benchwork in the train room

Shower and to sleep for me!

Please have some fresh brewed coffee ready for the bright and early tomorrow morning!

Cheers,

Ryan

Good Morning All,
Cloudy and spitting the occasional rain drops this morning. Lime Rock went all right despite the rain all day Saturday, and with just a few sprinkles yesterday got a lot done at work out in the yard. We have cars to Mt Tremblant and Mt. Equinox this week - the Canadian trip leaves Weds. AM and I go to the hillclimb on Friday.
Welcome to the newbies. NY-John - We go near Lawrenceville a couple of times a year when we visit Road Atlanta. He doesn't show up here much anymore, but Ga Tom will be a neighbor a town or two over.
Did get a couple of hours in the train room last night working on the elevated section of the track. I plan on having a double track raised section at the front of the benchwork on one side (a very condensed Norwalk - like two blocks worth) with buildings behind transitioning to an industrial/construction area like the real area I have in mind in Norwalk. Of course it's all overrun with condos now, but it used to be an interesting area.
All for now - time to pick up tools. CUL [:D], J.R.

Morning everyone, Just coffee please.

INCH I bet you can't do wheelies on those bikes.

Filled up the bird feeders here this past week. Discovered that we don't have any Gold Finch or House Wren anymore. Usually the Gold Fench will build nest in just about anything you leave out. I quess Rita and Katrina had something to do with it.

DER You can send that rain this way. Its been about three weeks since the last rain. Bet GRAYFOX's tiller would have trouble in this hard dried clay.

Well I guess I ahd better get out of here and get started on something, even if its wrong. Coffee's on me today.
Later, Neal

Good Morning All,
Another cloudy day out here on Long Island. Special thanks to all who took time to acknowledge my arrival in the coffee shop and current plight which is No Layout, and No Trains to run due to our family move from NY to Ga.
As a reply to some of your postings, The Late New York Central & Eastern was housed in a 10x18 shed that featured vinyl siding and architural roofing to match the house. The walls were insulated, sheetrocked and finished by a professional spackler. To call it a shed was not doing justice to it, although it was a just a shed. The Train Shed as it became known to friends and family was a refuge for model railroaders and a must see for all who visited. The Train Shed is now resting comfortably in the Town Landfill as it would have required a building code variance to remain on the property and the delay with getting this done would have severely delayed our move. The trains, buildings and some track were saved. The layout benchwork work is also in the landfill.
So here I sit, No Shed and No Trains, just you guys as my link to the great world of model railroading. Thanks for taking the time to encourage me on my move to a basement with a house above it.
Talk to you Soon, John

Good morning all![:D]

Coffee and oatmeal, please. Oh, and a donut to go. I need something to counter act the bad effects of oatmeal.[;)][:p]

I needed to change my schedule this month in order to help my parents move. But now I am really disorientated because I'm not use to being home on a Monday. If I was fatigued because of the number of hours I put in last month, I hate to see how bad it is by the end of the summer. Mega hours plus a shifting schedule??[:0] So what day is it today??[%-)]

Mitch - Glad to hear business is picking up. If you model HO scale, I considered buying a loco. What a conversation piece to have a flag that is not sold here and from down under too.[8D]

Got to run. I may be off from work but it doesn't mean I don't have work to do. TTFN.

Yep, it is a whirlwind tour! Blink and you might miss something!

Got all the brackets up yesterday, and half the benchwork supports on the south, west, and east side walls completed. With the first game of the Stanley Cup tonight and the Carolina Hurricanes playing at home here in Raleigh, I will only be getting an hour or so in the train room tonight. GO CANES!!!!!!

BIGCITYTHOMAS - aka John -
[#welcome] and have a drink on me, JP, aka John as well. I live in Syracuse. Why the move to GA? As for the layout, please tell more - location, and prototypical, freelanced, or mix of both? I am sorry to hear that you could not take the shed with you, but look at it this way... Down in GA, they get some nasty storms during the summer w/ some very strong winds. All it will take is for one of those gusts to come along, and poof...gone is the shed, but still standing will be your house. Which, is a good reason to have it in the basement. Also means that you don't need to go outside in the rain to get to the shed to 'play' with it.

All -
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I had to work and play 'war' games all weekend. Other than that, I lost power for 4 hours Saturday evening while cooking my dinner. What a bummer I tell ya!
Anyways, nothing new to report on the MRR front. And, since I am working 'nights' this week, I have to get going and get some things taken care of. I'll try and stop back in for desert in a little bit.
Take care!

Hi Gang: No I didn't fall down the stairs just bumping the CS to page 1 where it belongs. It does go to show everyone what a great carring bunch are here. Now tomorrow I may need the carring. I am somewhat prone to things like that. Now that I've said that I'll get my coffee at security instead of our break room which is on the second floor above the office. I'll use the ramp into security also just to be sure.

Neal: We have a dump rake in the front yard and my brother in law has a cicle mower like that in his yard. I'm tempted to use the rake on the downed twigs and small limbs. It is hard on the back picking them all up. Those models look super.

Mitch and James : Way to go with the models. just goes to show that if you find what isn't and provide it you will do well.

It's bed time so I'll say Good Night and I'll see you all tomorrow.

Guess what y'all...

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!

Depending on how things go during the summer, maybe I'll finally be able to start something in model railroading other than just buying more and more. I'd like to start my black project...But I don't have any CA. But that's a quick fix, all I need to do is go to WalMart or something...

So, yeah, I get to go see THE OMEN on Wednesday with a bunch of the guys from my Advanced Computer Application class. It's going to be fun.

Hey, woah, it's midnight, I'll be seeing y'all later.

Good morning all!

A quick coffee and donut before heading off on a three day.

Paul - Hope you are feeling better. But at least it was for a good cause --- coffee.[;)][:p][:D]

Phil - Welcome back. Glad you had a good time.

Scott - Midnight at your age should be early evening.[:-^][:)]

As I mentioned before, we had a young man from my church pass away last Monday. Last night was his memorial service. It was very sad time. One positive thing was the number of people he touched. In 25 years, he had more positive influence on people than some who have lived twice as long. I guess that is what makes it all the harder to see him go. He is in a better place now but we are still going to miss him.

See you all later.
