Morning All,

Bill's coffee and donuts look mighty good this morning! Did Fergie leave any?

BTW, Fergie,
The reason we didn't ask about the new train is because we figured we'd let you find out how it runs before we pelt you to death with questions about how it runs. So, how's it run? Does it run good? I sure hope it's a good runner. You like good runners, don't you? Is this one a good runner? I'll bet it is a good runner. So, does it run good? There, that ought to be enough for starters.

Ryan,
My credit card is nothing but a pile of chared ruins. I woke the other morning to find it smoldering on the nightstand. Seems it caught on fire from all of the friction generated by sliding it through the reader a million and a half times. It's OK though, at the percentage rates they charge, the card company was thrilled to know that I'd burned it up from overusage and they were only too happy to send me a replacement, FREE OF CHARGE!!!!

Good Morning Coffee Shop!

I’ll have a cup of coffee, some corned beef hash with two eggs sunny side up, some grits, and wheat toast, please!

Finally got a hair cut this Saturday and then we went to an authentic diner near Cary. The Gypsy Shiny Diner, great place. They even had the old juke boxes at each booth, and we dropped a $1.50 in quarters and played 6 oldies but goodies. Ben had an old fashioned cheese burger, and Monique got a chocolate shake for dessert. Then we went to the Whole Foods Market, and found some fresh organic herb plants. Ended up planting the lemon thyme and basil in the North West corner of the yard and then put some dill and chives in hanging baskets and hung them on the south facing front porch.

Monique found some heirloom tomato plant seeds I had ordered a few years ago, and that were still packed from the move. I started some of those seeds in a seeding tray on Easter Sunday. Hope they sprout, being originally packed for the 2004 growing season they may or may not take.

Breakfast in the morning, lunch at noon, and dinner early evening seem to be the order here. Supper was always something special, like Easter Supper. Then there is brunch, served from 10 am to 2 pm on Sundays at many hotels. Then again, some places serve breakfast 24 hours a day. Like the Gypsy Shiny Diner.

Update: I finally got the 3 volt solar panel in the mail this week and immediately soldered the two wires to the back of the AA battery case, put in the two recharged rechargeable AA batteries and reset the temperature, humidity, pressure gauge. The temp gauge has been up and running for four days now and it seems to be working fine. Hopefully I wont have to replace any batteries for awhile.

QUOTE: A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him. The waitress asks them for their orders. The man says, "A hamburger, fries & a coke," & turns to the ostrich, "What's yours?" "I'll have the same," says the ostrich. A short time later the waitress returns with the order. "That will be $9.40 please," & the man reaches into his pocket & pulls out the exact change for payment.

The next day, the man & the ostrich come again & the man says, "A hamburger, fries & a coke." The ostrich says, "I'll have the same." Again the man reaches into his pocket & pays with exact change. This becomes routine until the two enter again. "The usual?" asks waitress. "No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato & salad," says the man. "Same," says the ostrich.

Shortly the waitress brings the order & says, "That will be $32.62." Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket & places it on the table. The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. "Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?" "Well," says the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the attic & found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared & offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket & the right amount of money would always be there." That's brilliant!" says the waitress. "Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!"

"That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," says the man. The waitress asks, "What's with the ostrich?" The man sighs, pauses & answers, "My second wish was for a tall chick with a big butt & long legs who agrees with everything I say!"

RT, Thanks for the daily joke, another good one there!

Hey, Philip Carrell, Looks like you been buying for some time now. How’s the credit card holding out there?

Inch, Nice photos of the RR bridge! And looks like you too have been bitten with the “belly up bug” too, I’ll have a tall OJ on your tab!

Hey Fergie, Made some rabbit stew for Easter Sunday? Peter Cotton Tail looks kinda cold in the refer there!

[#welcome] to all the new faces in the CS!

Thoughts and prayers go out to all who need them this week!

QUOTE: Hi Gang: mary Ann and I got back from town a little while ago and it was 105f on the bank sign.

Paul, It was hot here in NC on Saturday too, got up to 92 degrees in the shade. At least the humidity was very low, but that makes for a volatile fire hazard combination too.

QUOTE: HeyRyan, if you visit Siberianmo/Tom’s other shop, he’s really big on RDC’s, and has taken some ViaRail train rides on their RDC’s. Ask him and he can very likely point you to the best places if you get back on your feet and want to ride one of them. FYI.

Jim, Thanks for the info! The Apex meet is coming the weekend of April 28 – 30.

Good evening crew,

Just wanted to wish everybody a happy Resurrection Sunday before going to bed. It's 11:50pm EDT and I am NOT taking a vacation day tomorrow (gotta save those for the summer).

Noah - I can relate, I haven't been online much here or across the street - been scrambling to make my layout look presentable, and no iternet connections in my garage. CapeJim I think I finally 'hit my stride' with the ballasting, got the mainline done - in the 'viewable' areas anyway. It really helps having the correct-sized bru***o clear away the excess.

I'll try to talk some more tomorrow, I can't keep my eyes open anymore - g'nite![|)]

Good Evening, Chloe - I’d like a mocha please, a little of Paul’s alligator stew, if there’s any left, and that slice of wedding cake that he hid back there in the back for me. Thanks, ***! Sorry to hear about your #3, but it’ll teach him a few things, I’m sure - patience, not buying without looking, and planning ahead better on the layout. [;)]

Inch, good to hear that JBird is recovering so quickly. Seems like it takes a heap to keep kids down for long (unlike some of us with more miles behind us! [:O][(-D]
Oh, that was the “(Original) Talkin’ Blues”, for the musicologists who might have strayed into the Shop. [swg] Hey, you better be careful, using Fergie’s trademarked words can get you into a MESS(tm)! [:O][swg] Good to hear the stress test went well for you (though not any fun, from the description you and others have given). I’m glad that the stress test I had (couple or three years ago) didn’t involve that ol’ chemical! Guess that’s the dye test (which I’m pretty sure I didn’t have).

KenLarsen, how do you define ‘regularly’.. Hope your ballasting goes well (or as well as ballasting can go, that is). You just need to be very persnickety and take your time, like one guy in our club does (and he does a great job on the ballasting for the club). I think he uses one of those foam brushes, plus another ‘regular’ brush, and then when he has things smoothed down, does the spray bottle thing.

Sorry ‘bout misnaming you guys, DerJohn . I was referring to the County, actually - would residents of that county be Haligonian Countians, of Halifax Countians? I would say that I wouldn’t go back to that place in Truro, either. But then again, I might not have been as patient as you were! [:O]

QUOTE: Originally posted by Cox 47
[Jim...Are you taking reqests? how about Big Rock Candy Moutain next?
Sorry, Jerry - I’m a bit rusty on that one (probably because I never really learned it...)[(-D] Thanks for the request though!

Scott, I think our Pastor must stop in to the Shop - this weekend his message was about fear, and he used your ‘hippomostro...’ word in the message(!)

HeyRyan, if you visit Siberianmo/Tom’s other shop, he’s really big on RDC’s, and has taken some ViaRail train rides on their RDC’s. Ask him and he can very likely point you to the best places if you get back on your feet and want to ride one of them. FYI.

Luc - about those RR jokes? Grrroooaaannnnn!!!

Yes, Scott, I remember that one by the Eagles too - but it came along some 20-30 years after Woody’s version in the Talkin’ Blues, a bit before your time.. Take it from this geezer! [;)]

RT, I’ll find my copy of our club’s bylaws and email you the text. Might be some time Monday, though.

Oh, ***, I missed your question about the dinner meal. I was raised in St. Louis County (more or less city area), and for us the meal in the middle of the day was lunch, the evening meal was dinner - except that on Sunday, the middle meal was dinner. Got that straight? I guess Sunday evening was (maybe) supper. But if you lived out more in the country (like my ex-wife did), supper was the evening meal and the middle meal was dinner (unless you were eating light, I guess, which could then be lunch... [;)] )

Paul, I’d like to help you out, but I’m fresh out of alligator hides (fake or otherwise)! You sure have an interesting job, I’ll say. Hang in there!

PC, loved your Amish Elevator joke. [(-D]

Steve B., sorry to read that things haven’t been going well in your neck of the woods. Will keep your sinuses, your family and your work in my prayers.

Fergie, good luck with the grackles - aren’t those the pesky cousins of starlings? Sometimes in the summers here, we get swarms of those, and various towns around Cape will try shooting cannons, spraying them with cold water in the trees where they (noisily) roost at night. Best of luck with the gardens for your Dad.

Well, I’ll need to catch up on the rest of the pages tomorrow, it looks like. Will be praying for all those of you with ailments and other troubles (and thanksgiving for those who have had good test results lately).

Easter Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Evening again all another barley pop Cleo,

Made it through the storms. They seem to slip north and soutn of us again, most the time they do for some reason, Guess they don't like this stratch jere between I-70 and US 40. They got it hard again south of us and now over in Ind. PC ,I think they're all going to go south of you, by the looks of the radar.

PC , that bridge is bout an hour SW of Indy, on the IND. RR

OZ Jim , sounds like some good progress on the layout

LUC , think it's back to the drawing board on the joke

GMT , hope your trip went well. Did ya bring back any first place's

Noah , good to hear from you and the progress on scenery. Realy enjoyed your pic also

JP , I'm hopeing to get over to the Cline Orchard grossing some and check the rail box / TTX up here. I hadn't heard of any merger between them

DINGOIX , We've talked about cutting some trees down, but I've never gotten that far. I don't have a chain saw anymore and coulded run it if I did.

Hope every one had a good Easter and thanked the LORD for this day. We had a good one here with the famialys getting togaither and the rain held off. So good night all

Hi Gang: mary Ann and I got back from town a little while ago and it was 105f on the bank sign. I tried to load some more of the scrap lumber tonight but felt like I was as dry as the deasert. I came to the house and had a big glass of water and sat in the AC for awhile. I haven't done anything on the MRR. I've been busy after work cleaning up the place and by the time I get in the house I'm worn out. All this heat takes it out of you fast. This Saturday is county clean up day so I can take all the junk I want to the county barn and dump for free. Since the barn is only about a mile from us I'll be making alot of trips. I just got tired of looking at all the stuff I've been hording for the day I can us it and figured out that if I live to 200 I'll never use it all.

Inch, PhillC: Watch out for those storms. I'd almost welcome them here for the rain.

Noah: I should take a hint from you and and cut down on the internet.

Well I really need to get to bed, work again tomorrow.

Good Night All

Good evening folks. I hope you all had a restful and blessed Easter Sunday. I’ve only just got to the computer for the CS, and it’s after 9:00 in the evening. After service we had a late lunch (2:20 p.m.) of Leg of Lamb, roast potatoes, 4 veggies, onion sauce, mint sauce, gravy, Simnel Cake for dessert; and have been running late ever since!
Brent:
QUOTE: At least we can still say Happy Easter and not happy rabbit day or something "politically correct"
That’s probably because the name Easter has pagan roots, not Christian. See http://www.holidays.net/easter/story.htm (Google gives 230 million possibilities if you just type in Easter, BTW [:O] [8D]) Very briefly, here’s the scoop:
QUOTE: Scholars, accepting the derivation proposed by the 8th-century English scholar St. Bede, believe the name Easter is thought to come from the Scandinavian "Ostra" and the Teutonic "Ostern" or "Eastre," both Goddesses of mythology signifying spring and fertility whose festival was celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox

That sort of explains the rabbit thing.[(-D] If you want to get the politically correct folks’ attention, start calling it "The Day of Resurrection” or something similar.[swg]

If you go to that site and read the page to the end you’ll see a paragraph on Holy Week. For a real mind blowing experience, get hold of (it’s out of print, but a good library system should track it down) “The Date of the Last Supper” by Annie Jaubert. (Translated from the original French by L.Rafferty – Alba House 1965) that should be enough information for them to trace it. Quite the read. Much more factual and likely than any Da Vinci Code nonsense.[tup]

Ding: Hope your puter isn’t sick! Have you defragged it lately?

TupeloRob:

OZJim was in when I turned the page. If you’re still here Jim, what can Chloë bring you?

Track cleaner has found another turnout it doesn’t like, so I’m off to see just what that’s all about. It’s a Peco Electrofrog. There may be some residual solder on the rails from an earlier attempt to fix a continuity problem. The trusty set of miniature files will have to come out again. Never mind, it should be all for the good in the end.

Goodnight all, and God bless. Prayers continuing for all in need of healing and comfort. [angel]

JP, Your right I haven't been much as of late, I've just been working on the module mostly. I still keep up with e-mails, but I've been cutting back on the forums to help give me more time for MRing. As long as it was a weekend though I figured I might as well stop in.

I've been chugging away on the module. We've got another show in two weeks in Brooklyn, Wisconsin (just south of Madison), at their Depot Days celebration. I'm mainly working on scenery as of late, getting it looking a little better for the next show. I'll post some pics around the time of the show when I've got it back to a presentable stage again. I've really made a lot of progress from last show, mainly on scenery, and I'm just starting to get into the detail stage.

Happy Easter,

Happy Easter All -
Hope everyone is enjoying the day / meals with good friends and family. I'm at mom and dad's today. CFO and Josh are at her parents for the weekend. Dad made a good ham to accompany mom's cabbage salad, dinner rolls, and a few other side dishes. One plus is that I have leftovers to take home and I got 2 loads of laundry done for free, instead of paying $2 / load at my apartment.

Noah -
Come sit for a spell and laet's chat trains! How's the mod coming along that you and your dad are working on? Have not seen you in here as of late and I am, along with the others, curious about the progress.

Inch -
Not all of them are labeled for TTX either. Although, most of the one's I've seen as of late here at the CSX yard do have TTX on them. And if one does a google search for Railbox, TTX comes up in a few of the responses for that search.

Also, at last report, about 45 minutes ago, the Sox were winning 2-0 (3-2 Sox, bot 7th, as of this edit update)

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

Grand Crossing has been really busy lately, even the CP rail has been busy. If you like stack trains, I myself like to see the mixed stuff boxcars, tanks, etc.

Dave, the CP down here has been busy too (And since it's the same line I supose it would be). A friend and I went shooting trains last weekend between Lyndon, and Tunnel City on the CP, and we caught 10 trains from about 7am to 1PM. We're hoping to get over on the BNSF again sometime too, especially over to the spot at Victory, WI with the Cliff in the back ground and all. (This photo actually:http://www.railimages.com/albums/noahhofrichter/afg.jpg ) I really enjoy chasing the BNSF up and down the River, they usually run lots of interesting Power, a good number of trains, and it's beautiful Scenery. I only wish I could get over there more often.

So they are running helpers some too now, huh? Interesting. How frequent are the Ore train on the BNSF down the river anyway? That's something I've been wanting to catch but haven't been able to yet.
