Fergie; Tell Lisa that I'm pulling for her. Hope that she fells better soon. Now you hang in there too. Mary Ann was sick for over a week and I was really mesarable. It's hard on the one who isn't sick. Pay backs,I'm usually the one laid up.

junctionfan; It snows in Texas. There have been a couple of times that I couldn't even get down my road until I put the blade on the tractor and cleared off the snow.

I got some more track cleaned yesterday. I'll try and run something soon.

Good Morning All:

We are finally enjoying this fall temp. We thought it'd never get here. I've taken some pictures and looked at them on the TV and some of them even look good enought to post.

Tomorrow is going to be a good train day and I hope to get the rail laid on the TT bridge and maybe get it finished so it can be painted. The pit is finishing up rather nicely.

I've got to call Digitrax about the wiring because I came up with another design yesterday. (Still trying to engineer it to death.)

After my computer crash due to the lightening I couldn't find my Kodak program untill last night so now I'm going to put the pictures on my computer tonight. Tomorrow I'd like to put them on the forum - remember standing in your train room and telling me "it is simple and I'll tell you how when you're ready"? Well I THINK I'm ready. Do you remember the saying "ignorance is bliss"? That's the way I feel. With everyone else doing it I should be able to also.

I feel sorry for Lisa as I hate to be incapacitated and not be able to move around.

The ball's in your court. When? If you come here and then go to Papa Ben's I might get a couple of ya'll to ride with me as it would be a GREAT reason to go to Houston. Teffy, remember you need to open an account at an image hosting site, like railimages, to upload your photos. They don't go directly from the computer to this forum. So if you haven't done so already, it would be a good time to click on railimages.com (or whatever other photo hosting site of choice) and get an account set up.

Speaking of Papa Ben's, I just got my email from him confirming that he had all the stuff I was ordering so he can mail it to the border!

Well, I have any early our from school today, so I've got pllleennnttty of time to hang around today. And I have exciting news too. The WSOR and Athearn Inc have officailly put out there WSOR SD40-2 HO scale Models!!!!! I been awaiting for this! There are four road numbers avalible only on the WSOR's site at the company store, and two avalible to the public. I convinced my parents to get me two of them for chrismas(with me chipping in a little, as they're $60 a peice locos) Hopefully they'll get here by Monday or Tuesday, so I can run them!! I laso get as a FREE bonus (who can beat that) a Model of the WSOR ACF centerflow hoppers released along with the engines from Athearn. The road number I'll be getting is avalible exclusively, from the company store, which is good, as I already have the two hoppers released to the public by Athearn. I do wi***hese loco's were bluebox kits though, as then they'd be a heck of alot cheaper and I could buy more. Okay, I think I've calmed down now, on to replies......

Ed, I agree, I make sure if I have homework not to spend to much time on here. I usually always read the posts daily, but sometimes don't respond, for sake of time. I make sure get my homework done, as I'm a straight A student and want to stay that way if I can help it.

Well I am back. We have had so much rain in the last few weeks that our phone lines (underground) were swimming. I could not call out or receive a call and could not get on the internet. I also found out that even at 3 am in the morning the phone company repair number is "busy". I am going to complain to the proper authorities over that. There is no way that even at 3 am that line should be busy. This whole ordeal is nothing but fishy. [:(!]

Well I guess everyone got to meet Adrian. <Crazy Kid> He is a hoot though. [;)]He has become the unofficial "fix it man" in his college dorm. For those who do not know much about him here is a little run down. He is about 6 foot 2 inches tall and this is his first year in college. He is a electrical engineering major and is in Air Force ROTC. If you have checked out his links there is a pic of him standing next to his black ford truck. He doesn't look that tall does he? Now you know how big that truck is. [;)] On his floor in the dorm everyone but he and one other guy were put on probation for a "drunk" party. He was able to talk 2 girls who were going to go to that party out of going to that party and one other young man didn't attend the party. They four stayed in Adrian's room and had pizza and cokes. EVERYONE else on the floor attended the party, got tea totally drunk/wasted/pasted out and put on probation. The next day the 3 visitors to Adrians room all thanked him for keeping them out of trouble. So you can see he has a good head on his shoulders. He likes the Lehigh Valley Railroad and trains. He is a young man any father would be proud to say, "That's my boy." <Hope he doesn't read this [:p] >

Actually we have a good many young men in the forums who have achieved some really good things in their lifetimes. Another young man (Chris) is a senior this year in high school. He is diesel qualified and steam boiler qualified (under a regular fireman) on a local short line. He is already enrolled in the Navy, and will be working on the ships engines.

So all is not lost on the youth of today. We do have some good young men in the forums.


Well Ed sent me his cold spell so now my floor furnance is lit and working. It is about 60 right now and I really don't know how low it is going but now I am ready. [:(] I sure hate to spend that money on heat but heat is better than being cold.

Does anyone have a Christmas layout up and running? I am thinking about doing something. (Ed, a small layout around the tree would certainly be appropriate.) I will have to check into that. <You too.> [;)]


Oh yeah, I went and rode the River Rail the other night. It definately won't get any speeding tickets and the ride is a little on the rough side but it was still fun. I will make a seperate post about it in the Trains.magazine forum.

Seems like forever since I've posted at the Coffee Shop, nothing good has happened in the past couple of days. I did find an old camera with a 50mm lense that my dad's letting me have to take picures of model and real trains.

The modern CB&Q hasn't had much going on either, if I can I will try to start painting rolling stock this month.

Anybody know any free sites to post photos on other than railimages?

Not much on the go here but thanks for the prayers and well wishes for Lisa.
When I told her you were all pulling for her I got the strangest look, I dunno?

Anyway she's slowly on the mend thank God, as I've seen many a shipmate laid up due to a back injury and I was fearing the worst. I'm presently fighting a sinus infection and am having problems getting up a head of steam, though I had some hot and spicy chicken wings covered in Frank's Hot Sauce this evening and my sinus's were running free and clear (Oops I'm sorry No body functions should be discussed here!)

Good thing I lit the floor furnance, it is now 45 at 145 am. I have resorted back to my "owl" habits since I don't have to work Saturday. Sometime in the future when you have some time you might enjoy reading a book called, Spiritual Authority by Watchman Nee. This book will really open the eyes of those who read it when it comes to "Authority." All I can say is, WOW. It is a very powerful book and will humble the soul.

After looking over some pages and reading some the last few minutes I think I will go now. As some would say, "Time to sit down and shut up."

Good Morning All:

I've turned on the heat up stairs so I can "play" all day. I told Mrs "T" that today was my day and I was going to enjoy it.

My roundhouse has turned out very nice. Now it's ready for the TT. I've laid out all of the radial tracks and will cut the pit hole as soon as it's painted (that gives me more time to think about the location.)

When you were talking about Adrian you said " So you can see he has a good head on his shoulders. He likes the Lehigh Valley Railroad and trains." That's kind of and oxemoron(SP). How can he have a good head on his sholders and like the Leeky Valley, when the SANTA FE is out there? Ha Ha Ha. I must abmit I do have two of their "wrong way door" box cars, they are unique.

Step one is complete - I have applied for a slot on railimages. I'll let you know when I receive a reply. Their post said "normally in touch within 48 hours". I think that the weekend will probably be very busy and may take longer.

I saw a post over on Railimages about a CMR turntable being constructed and it was very interesting and I could identfy with just about everything as I'd just done it except mine is Horrably Oversized and his was Normal.
One of my problems is I work on what suits me, I just got through making the rest of the track bumpers from an ME kit. I got four of them done, took them upstairs and got sidetracked running trains - that was two weeks ago. The other four were on the dinning room table and Mrs. "T" wanted to know when I was going to get through, so last night I glued the other four together (took about 45 minutes).

So many projects and so little time Boy, you can sure see that I'm getting old it used to be "so many girls and so little time."

jhhJim: I've read quite a few of Watchman Nee's books. (A while ago now) I tried to email you through the forum, but the window won't open enough to show the "send" button, and won't respond to attempts to increase its size.
So, how about you send me an email, and I can reply. I'm interested in why you posted what you did, but am not sure the rest of the coffee shop would be as interested.[:D]

Bob: If you get out of the train room any time soon, please go into your Kodak program and look at the properties of the photos you want to post. If they are more than, say 500 K each then see if the program will allow you to adjust the properties. The dpi (dots per inch?) may be adjustable. If so, bring it down to about 96 or so. See if that has lowered the file size of the photo to the 500K or less level.
If the program doesn't let you change thte dpi, it may let you change the size in inches. My Vivitar camera yields photos that my program claims are 22 inches by 15 inches or so!!!! That yilds a photo file of several million, and we are after just 1/2 million or less. So, I cut the inches down to down to 6x4, and that drops the file size to a more reasonable range. All this is helpful when uploading. Railimages will resize automatically, but it's best to feed it about the right sized chuncks to begin with, and takes less time to upoad as well.

Hi Ed:
Was that last paragraph directed to me or someone else because I don't know anythng about an SP (pause) (long pregnent pause) Ha Ha Ha - I just caught on - that's a good one. I do own several Daylight trains, one pulled by a 4-8-4, and one by a PA and PB. I even have a set of Kato cars and an E-8 in that Normal scale.

The only reason that I got on this late was to see if I had an answer to railimage.

I've had a good day today, working on the TT. I saw that guy's article when I went to railimage this morning and it sure was interesting to read. It was almost the same path that I just went down. When he was talking about using cardboard I thought that it was an older kit - I didn't realize until almost the end that it was in "N" scale.

You told me how to preview the post, now why is it in such a w i d e format? I have to keep going back and forth to read it and us old folks have trouble with that - Don't we Fla/Phil?

Well today is almost over and I am beat to a frazzle, No work on the trains today just lots and lots of house work! I am convinced this sinus thing has developed into an infection as I'm beat to a frazzle. It's either that or the wood stove is up to high and I don't care for the heat or the 12 mile bike ride with a gale blowing in my face was a tad too much. Nah I'm just getting old.

On the size thing, Railimages was saying not to post large files. They may have improved their technology since then. Anyway, I try to keep the photos down to about 500K as it speeds up the process at this end. I have to upload on a land line at 24bps and large files take a while longer than I prefer to wait[V]
If Bob doesn't have to bother with the resizing thing, so much the better.[^]

We have been disengrandkidded earlier than we expected. So I'm back in here looking for coffee. Ran a train this afternoon in the timesaver . Should have left some of the way-frieght out on the main, as I'm now royally messed up with cars not where I want them! Remember, MODEL RAILROADING IS FUN[swg]
