I've found Klein to be consistently excellent. There's really not much else to say.
Now, a discussion of Bachmann's strenths and weaknesses would be a lot more interesting and colorful, wouldn't it?
HanselI had a bad eperience when I bought from them. Not sure if it was their fault or Bachmann's fault.
You had a bad experience with Bachmann, not M.B. Klein.
You bought a Yugo, when you should have purchased a Lexus
I know becuase I have a 44 tonner too. It's been sitting in a box since 1993. And there it will stay until I can dump it on some poor sap on ebay.
I had a bad eperience when I bought from them. Not sure if it was their fault or Bachmann's fault. I bought a Bachmann 44 tonner and when I ran the loco it worked only in one direction for a minute, then it would not work at all. I then return the loco for another and the second loco had its trucks were already broken and sticking 0.25" below the chassis. When I took off the body, one of the plastic tabs was broken. Not sure if it is Bachmann quality control, USPS shipping issue, or Klein who was responsible. I returned the loco and got my money back.
That was the last Bachmann item that I will ever buy!
They are also great in handling international customers. I bought and buy a lot from Germany and never had any problems. The USPS shipping cost are "as usual".

loatharAnybody ever been there?
I go pretty regularly. I get Flowquil sprays in a can there. It's hard to find them anyplace else.
If they don't have it out front, they have it in the back.
I also support Peach Creek Shops because of the great advice I get there.

Although I buy 80-90% of my MRRing stuff from my LHS, I do use M.B. Klein on occasion - especially locomotive deals. I love the "live" inventory. And it really works, too.
I purchased the last (1 Left) of a particular locomotive a while back. When I went to check the inventory again right after the purchase, the live inventory noted that the item was "Out of stock". That's a great feature. No guessing. No surprises.
Yep, M.B. Klein has some great deals. I've been very pleased with the service and delivery times, too.

loathar I wish I lived next door to that place. I guess they have an actual walk in store too. Anybody ever been there?

I've been to their new store and it's great. Very well stocked, clean, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They also have a few computer terminals in the store so you can look at their web site in case you need to remember something you seen on their web site. Jim
Count me as another of their satisfied customers.
They ran an e-bay store as well, not sure if it is still running.
Great service, fast shipping. I ALWAYS check their web site befoe purchasing ANY model railroad item.
I went to their old location in downtown Baltimore once, a few years ago. Great store, with LOTS of stuff at low prices. No idea what it's like since they moved, but I imagine it's still a lot of fun to visit.
I've placed maybe 3-4 orders with them in the last couple years. Their shipping is fast, and they always get the order right.
Just got an email from them earlier this afternoon that my bundle of N-scale Micro Engineering track is on the way. Hope to have a siding installed this weekend! Jamie

What's a Local Hobby Shop?
I have been using Model Train Stuff a.k.a. MB Klein for several years. Just placed another order yesterday. Great prices and great customer service.

sparkyjay31For those of you looking to get into online purchasing and are a bit nervous, have no fear. I'd highly recommend M.B. Klein. What a great experience. The online shopping could not have been easier. An inventory right there on the screen so you don't have to guess what is, or is not in stock. Great prices, and equally great shipping times. I hit submit only 5 days ago and have my stuff to work on tonight. I found the deals were better than the 50% off deals at my LHS. HArd to argue about that. Happy Shopping.
Never had a single reason to complain against them; great stock, great inventory, lord knows AMAZING prices. Almost all my online shopping for my layout is done at MB Klien

Whats thier web site.
I'll have to check them out. We have lost another local hobby shop in the Cincinnati area and the nearest one with discounted prices and special order service to me is about 40 miles.
I agree, its a good place to order from. I was just looking at what they had on sale last night!!!
"Rust, whats not to love?"
I agree 100%. I got an Athearn Genesis F3AB set from them and I've never found anywhere with a lower price. Good prices, fast shipping, good service, easy to use website, what else can you ask for?
I have ordered from them 3 times in the last couple of years and been well pleased with prices and service. I like the online inventory so I know what they have in stock.
Enjoy

I have used them as my local hobby shop for a long time now.
In fact they have become my only source for model RR stuff since all of our local hobby shops have dried up and went to pot.
Great service, great prices, and you know as soon as you visit their web site if they have it in stock.
Why go any where else?

Yep nothing but great service and prices so far

I use them occassionally and have always been impressed by their service.
Five days? They seem to be slipping a little...
Oh, I see, two weekend days included. Then it's only three shipping days. I've actually had them deliver second day out here to the Midwest and always by thrid day out. You pretty much can't beat that, without spending more on the freight than on the model!
