Blueline DCC issue
Posted by Caso.Sub on Friday, April 3, 2009 7:52 PM

Hey Everyone

I think there is probably  a thread on this, but couldn't find it. I have Broadway Blueline, my loco is DCC equiped with a NCE decoder, my sound now does not work but the motor works. Can  anyone tell me how to reset this loco or point me to the thread?

Thanks,

CASO

 Hey

To reset the Blueline decoder set it on the main and program CV8=8. Before you do that when did the sound stop working? What was the loco doing just before the sound stopped? Was it consisted? Tried programing long address? It may not need resetting.

I have had similar problems with Blueline locomotives when I tried to create a consist.  The sound decoder, for some reason, does not accept advanced consisting the same as a motor control decoder.  If you tried to create a consist, the motor control decoder accepted it but the sound decoder didn't, and is still on the original address.

The BLI web site had some instructions on how to program five or six CVs of the sound decoder to create a consist before installing the motor decoder, but they didn't work either.

I too had a similar problem with some BLI diesel locos but found a solution after a lot of frigging around.  One of the things I did was call the BLI help line.  I can run 2-loco consists [not very often] with another BLI loco or another manufacturer.  It was some time ago since I was working on this so I can't remember all of the details but I do remember making sure that the motor and sound decoder are on the same address.  You also cannot use a programming track in page mode.  You have to use direct mode [I think] to program the sound decoder.  You have to use ops mode on the main track when both the sound and motor decoders have the same address.  There was a useful thread on Blueline consist problems not long after the BLI locos came out.  You could search for it on the Forum site.  There is also this one http://model-trains-video.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?150.0#post_152 on BLI programming.

Sorry I can't be more specific without digging into my procedures to see if I made any note of it.  But at least you know that running a consist with BLI locos is possible.  You have made me think - I am going to do some digging now to see if I can find out exactly what I did do!!

Good luck.

I have found the old thread I was referring to - http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/p/110925/1277535.aspx#1277535

Note post # 13 by GTX765 - this appears to be from BLI tech support.
