Hi
Sorry I originally posted this in Garden Railways but was told its better here.
I am scratchbuilding some windows that appear to have a muntin that is roughly 1/2" based on some window measrements. So in NScale, this is calculated as follows: Take .50/160=.003. Is that correct? Seems extremely small so I am just thinking of making the styrene wider. Most windows I've seen seem to use a much wider strip. Also the mullins would be roughly 2" wide, so that makes it .0125. Again, seems to small. I have a DPM factory kit and the window strips seem to be wider.. Though it won';t be authentic, it might be easier to build. Thoughts?
Your math is corerect. Remember, N scale is SMALL.
Your best bet (and even a good option in HO) is to just print the windows out on clear styrene, and glue the resulting results into an existing frame or window opening. Printing the top and bottom of a double hung window on the same piece os styrene isn't a sin; realistically, at 1/160th scale, no one should realistically see the staggered wondow parts. At scale & distance, objects turn 2D.

Thanks. That's a good alternative. Now I can see why most of the window structure tends to be wider.
