Tyler, good prep work man. Locos look sweet, especially the Kodachrome GP30

Tyler, I really think you should patch. Maybe repaint the C&O geep, but I think the WRS would look really cool with patched power. I love all the color, but that's just my opinion. But other wise, looks great!
Vincent, your still Welcome here. It isn't really limited to just teens, although, you can leave here when ever you want.

Ty, I've never heard of P2K units needing both trucks on the rails, maybe something's loose. But I agree, the shells are sometimes a pain to put on. If it has the pilot with the removable bottom piece and a seperate coupler box, you could cut off the tabs and glue the bottom piece to the shell. That would hold the shell on my the boxes like most newer athearns do.
BTW, it's about time someone else posts here. In a few months I won't be able too. (turn 20 in August)

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
I was recently cleaning the layout from top to bottom. I set up a bunch of projects from the workbench in the locations where they will be, and also set up the equipment on the layout (rolling stock, waybills, loco consists).
This is the Walthers Cornerstone fire station that I cut in half for Dooley (After driving a hard bargain from the guy I bought it from to reduce the price since it was used... "But it's missing the front door! And the roof is loose, and the fire escape is partially broken!" After which I unceremoniously chopped the building up with a razor saw and ended up destroying the details anyway!) I still need to cover the back with styrene and paint and weather the building.
The first operating session will be sometime in May, most likely after May 15, although I may hold a limited session before that to get accustomed to the new operating practices and find the few remaining glitches.
Intermodel train 400/401 will need a lot of work before it's ready for the layout (I have three locos that are out of service, and the Impacks need weight added) but 402 and 403 are ready and idling on A/D 1 and 2 in White River Junction.
402 has 2306 and 1701 (U23B and 1701, respectively) on the head end, and 403 has 2752, 5516, and 5817 (GP30, GP30, and GP7) leading. That's 3243, another U23B, in the background of the first photo. It's currently serving as the yard switcher.
5817 is a new arrival fresh from the shops... And it's one of the older P2K models that for some reason needs both trucks touching the tracks (at least one axle on each). That makes wheel cleaning pretty tough... Actually, it's not that bad. It's putting the shell back ON afterwards that's a huge pain!
I saw trains today... choo choo.
Alex
Bump...

Here I am! No, I didn't die in the last... however long it was since I've been here (too long).
Not much to report, but I worked on rebuilding my F40 into the F40PH-2CAT. I have it mostly done; I still need to build and add the roof/grill section. Pix to come later.

Ty, still haven't figured out why the PRR GP7 or the IC GP18 worked fine before I sent them, then don't work when they get there. At least that GP30 works great.
So I finally got my motive power together for a roster shot (warning, if you have dail-up this may take a while)
This is about as close as I could get to them while keeping everything in the frame.
Athearn BB Sw1500s, 317 and 308P2K GP9s, 1964 and 1956P2K Gp30s, 2216, 2236, and 2250Athearn RTR Gp35 2507Atlas/Kato C425 4258 (new shells are on my order list)P2K SD9s, 6226 and 6232Atlas SD24 6240Atlas SD24, 6244 and CB&Q 502 (haven't patched it yet)P2K SD45s, 6497 and 6489Athearn Genesis F45 6635P2K U28Bs, 5453 and 5451Atlas U30C 5313Atlas U30C 5313 (no, I don't have two, this one just managed to get itself into 2 frames)Atlas U33Cs, 5733 and 5761
Ya'll have already seen the others, so I won't post them.
IDK what I was trying to get in these shots:I forgot to turn that lamp around, for some reason I think the picture looks cool.
Now for a peek into my project locos:U33C 5733. TNeed to repair those grilles and maybe get a radiator section. I've tried squadron green putty on the grilles to no avail (although it worked well on the messed up window sill), I'm going to try bondo next. If worse comes to worse, I'll cut the bad louvers out and rebuild the grille piece-by-piece (really hoping the bondo works).U33C 5761. This the main shell on this one was in good shape when I got it. I just painted the parts around the windows and exhaust stack silver. Both need handrails, some touch-up paint, weathering and both Detail Associates detail kits for Atlas U33Cs (the grab iron one, and the number board ones)
SW1500s 307 and 318. I'm working on re-wiring these units. 318 is a dummy with a sound-only decoder and a speaker in it, 307 is powered and has a whole bunch of lead stuffed into the shell. They are wired together so both units get 16-wheel pick-up. I'm just re-doing it because the decoder in 307 is too tall. Both units need some of the lense pieces, and some detailing to match the prototypes.
Gp35 2507. I still haven't finished this one yet... Just need to do some touch-up to the frame (messed up when milling it for the Buehler can motor), glue the airtanks back on, attach the horn and beacon (I have both in my parts box), hardwire the decoder, and attach the motor to the frame. I really should kick myself for not having done this, since I should have had it done by now. I have done one upgrade though, which is putting the fans from an Atlas SD35 on it. The Atlas fans look better than the athearn fans, but after seeing my F45's fans, I should get plano fans.
The sad part is out of all those engines, I don't have a single C30-7, SD40-2, or GP38-2, which were all really common engines on the BN.
Last but not least, a group of 3 cars I got for 7 bucks total off of ebay, all athearn BBs:A custom painted and decaled PC hopper. I managed to hide most of the decal film, I'll hit it again with dullcote, then weather it.EL gon, dunno what I'll do with this one.NW insulated box, came with no weight. Unfortunately I don't have a scale, so I can't figure out what I need to add to it.
Sorry about dropping a lot of pics at once.
I have a work crew coming in two weeks and one of the projects on my list is electrical work on that loco. That and filing a ton of rail joints, laying down New Poland, re-gauging switches in WRJ, and other track repair...
Between GraniteRailroader and GG, who's Shmuck and who's Shmuckitely (sp?)
Tyler, good you're gettting them back. Now what about the GP18? (granted you could probably throw it's shell onto the C&O's chassis)
Ealier I put a TCS A1X decoder I had stored (I actually forgot I had it until I was cleaning) into one of my U33Cs. However I think the decoder might be defective, since it shorts out in foward and takes off at full speed in reverse. At least TCS will replace decoders with no questions asked. Wish they did something like NCE does where you can send them any other manufactuer's faulty decoder and get a similar NCE one for like 10 bucks.
I've got my Atlas SDP35 (UP) and two Proto 2000 GP7s (PRR and C&O) headed home from being repaired today... I'll probably be gone when they arrive, but it'll be good to have them back in any case!
With all shmucks aside, my other non shmuck friend will hopefully be paying for my GP38-2 shells tomorrow, and my cash is enroute to Captain Shmucker in Vermont.

Which shmuck? I know several...
Yeah, Alex was saying it's some shmuck that left the VRS to go to NECR. Palmer isn't going to be much of an attraction now, with all jobs except three on the whole railroad operating off spare boards.
Formerly of VTR, or a different conductor?
He's a furloughed NECR conductor, which was the reason we would go to Palmer.
In before GG and Tyler jack this thread. lol
After work today I went to the LHS. I picked up some styrene for making coupler pads for my Alcos. If worse comes to worse on my U33C, I could use it to rebuild the radiator, piece by piece (would take a long time, cutting each louver/grill piece individually, then gluing it) I also got a 65 T-bird and 64 1/2 mustang, both white. (so that's like 30 cars now, probably but keep them all and use them on a layout if I build one)
Strangely, They still don't have HO freight cars (they have a butt load of N that never sells [at like 3 dollars a pop, don't recall the manufactuer], yet their HO gets sold out in a week, they order more N)
In other news, The dullcoating of the PC hopper didn't help to hide the decal film much. Guess I'll go back and gloss coat it, then dullcote it again.
Ah... With my parents, that wouldn't work... "So, can I go hang out in Palmer with Alex and some guy I've never met?" Right...
Perhaps Worcester would work better, since I can get transportation there easily, or is there a specific reason for Palmer? There are actually more scheduled trains through Worcester (NECR is sort of a hit-or-miss when I've been there) because of the MBTA (although that sort of doesn't count...). And I've found a new location at the east end of the yard, on public property... Shoot me an email and we'll talk.
Its possible if I can't get a ride out there, that I'd get a ride from my railroad relation. In either situation, its possible you could get a ride with me, and whoever I'm getting a ride from.
Alex, I'll be busy this week and next, so I don't know about the date, but I might be able to make it (and wash dishes for a week afterwards to get a ride!). Email my with more details...
Now to check up on everything I missed on the old thread while I was away...
Guilford Guy Bump? I didn't get the coach sides or money yet, but my friend is paying for the GP38-2s today or tomorrow.

Well, I'm hopefully going to my LHS sometime soon to get a can of semi-gloss and some scenery stuff. Spring break this week, thank the lord, so I'll hopefully have some time to work on my diorama.
Aren't we a bit old to be saying "choo-choos"? I can't actually say it because I have 0 steamers.
The sky decided to let up a bit, so I dull-coted a PC hopper and an N&W box. I'll weather them sometime tomorrow. I also snagged a Walther's platinum line Bay window caboose for 5 bucks on ebay (that's like 1/6 of the 30 buck MSRP).
Good day folks.
I was going to pick up my 3 Atlas GP40-2s today (2 sound equipped, 1 decoder equipped), but my friend's girlfriend got sick, thus he had to drive back to Vermont. Its a killer price for the locos, considering I'm paying less than the MSRP for one of those units and getting all of them, as well as some NECR/CV stuff.
Tyler, sometime in mid-April would you want to go to Palmer to meet up with a railroad relation of mine and "raid palmer?"
Happy Choo Choos
