Atlas GP40 review
Posted by CPR GP38-2 fan on Thursday, January 29, 2009 2:37 PM

I picked up an Atlas GP40 the other day and was impressed from what I had ever had (my orginal roster before the new loco was 1 atlas Trainman GP38-2, and a dumb Athearn GP40-2 R-T-R-srry athearn!).  The detail was incredible and the running quailties was what I expected from a top line company.  My model is a Silver series as I have yet to get DCC or sound.  The shell is perfectly molded and I have yet to find a inapporpiate detail to the prototype.  I did remove the drop steps, rear pilot kickboards, and horn of course.  Other wise, a couple of details such as a beacon, 2 radio anttenas, and maybe a liitle paint will finish the model off.

Also, a couple of questions.  Where were the roof top details (horn, beacon, and antennas) placed?  And the stock Atlas horn - will it work protoypicaly or do I need a new one?

Matt
