 Thanks Jerry.

Hey Robby, I tihnk this Steelers-Ravens game is basically what the NFL is. Two high-powered offenses going up against some hard-hitting, no-nonsense defenses, in the cold, in the snow, with a trip to the superbowl on the line. I'm pulling for the steelers, b/c I want Big ben to prove that first ring wasn't a fluke, but if the Arizona Cardnials get in, then I've got to pull for them, no matter who else is in. Going to be a very interesting NFL Sunday.

A good omen for the Cardinals-I played my friend on Madden NFL 2007, me w/ the Cardinals, him w/ the Eagles, at the cardinals stadium, and I won. It was a shoot-out, lol, I won it through the air for the most part.

Mornin' everyone!

The French Toast with a side order of bacon sounds good this morning Flo.  Don't forget the Pure Maple Syrup.  Oh, and a mug of the dark roast coffee in a FGLK MUg Please!

Eric, that is terrible news on top of what is going on with your dad!   Know that you and your family are in my prayers.

Sue nice wheels!

Tom you do get some interesting stuff going on at your church..........

It is 21°F here in the Finger Lakes with a predicted high of 27°F.  Possibility of an inch or so of new snow, but nothing to be really worried about.

I'm getting frustrated with the progress on the layout.  All the next steps that need to be done are waiting on materials that have been ordered and haven't arrived yet.  May put all the parts that are out waiting to be assembled into a box and then get out a kit (probably another car) and do that.  By the time I'm half way through that in the middle of the week, the backordered parts should be here......... Maybe not......

Have a great day and stay warm!

Good morning everybody.  Theres about 4 inchs of snow and its still coming down.  Now thats a good day for some FOOTBALL!!!!  It will be good to see the black and gold win today, go STEELERS!!!!!!

I painted the new part of the backdrop yesterday, and am I happy.  No, but I can always redo it.  I don't have anything layout wise today.  Mostly just sit around and do nothing.

Well I gues I will go, and everybody have a good day.

Sawyer- caught your photos over at WPF. Looks good. Thumbs Up Seems you and I were working on the same building kits. Not the same building but Pikestuff kits. I'm using the showroom warehouse, I think is the name, for my Baitshop/pizza/garage. I cut the warehouse short more like repair garage size.

Yeah, i love those kits. I'm working on a third, and I've got a 4th that I've still got to build. Guess you caught the pics before they got deleted, eh?

Morning Choe, morning all.  I think I'll have the Fench Toast, Sausage, and a decaf.....  Thanks

Still here in Rockaway, snowing outside.  Came here thinking that Mom was suffering from stress with Dad being moved around from rehabs to nursing homes.  We had to call an ambulance last night.  After a CAT scan and blood work.......90% sure Liver and Bone cancer.  Great way to start off the year, first Dad, now Mom.  Well, we three kids (we're old 44,48,52) will deal with it and persevere.

I guess I'll be taking thosepassenger trains home sooner than I thought. Hey, you know what? Maybe I'll  build a diorama for the dining room.  A passenger station museum setup.  Maybe the Walthers Union Station with the train shed and the engines and first few cars on display.... That way it could be narrow and show off the equipment.

Well, it will be time soon to see Pastor Sherry, yes a woman, and tell her about Mom.  Mom is a dedicated volunteer at church....

See everyone later. Keep the rails shiny.  Eric

Good morning.

It's 55 and partly cloudy. The high should be in the upper 60's and it will be partly cloudy.

At least I got some layout work done yesterday. I cut one of the access holes out so it's 4 inches larger. That kept me occupied for a couple of hours. When I went under the layout to start work I had shifted around until I was in a comfortable position and had just started to mark out the area I was going to cut when one of the neighbors came knocking on the door. Have you ever wished for a handy button you could push and zap them? I had to drop everything, crawl out from under the layout and go to the door only to find that the person was looking for my next door neighbor. I simply pointed to his trailer then closed the door. That was almost as irritating as finding an encyclopedia salesman on the doorstep. I crawl back under the layout and get back into my comfortable spot and wouldn't you know it, the phone rings. I crawled back out, picked up the phone and it was a recording from a pizza place telling about their specials. Oh, this was getting irritating. So, under I go for the third time. This time I was able to get the bulk of the work done. I got all the cutting done and just had to pull the access panel out to do a little work on it. Since there wasn't anymore sawdust flying around I took my safety goggles off, popped the three barrel locks that hold the panel in place and dropped the panel down and dropped what seemed like a half a ton of sawdust right into my eyes. That was the real capper. After getting to the sink and flushing my eyes I went back under the layout and completed the work. I didn't have anything to do with the layout for the rest of the day.

Twhite: That means a lot to me, reminds me of our school's music teacher. She was new this year and heard that I was a drummer, and had me play the congas for the Christmas program... I told her about the concert and she came, and after the whole thing she walked up to me and said: "Mark, that was amazing. I had no idea you were that good, that's really inspirational. I'm really sorry for just making you play the congas for the concert, but you were so graceful to not say a word about it." That made me chuckle.

Evening all.

Just got back from the Baptismal Mass tonight.  Two surprises:  Father Fong was NOT the Presider, he decided to listen to Confessions instead, tonight, which meant that Fr. Anthony, our regular Priest was presiding.  Surprise two:  Our choir director phoned in with the flu, which mean that the whole thing fell on ME.  Lordy, I hate playing and conducting at the same time.  Anyhow, as I was putting the music on the piano, Fr. Anthony walked by, rubbed my bald spot (a Habit of his, if you'll pardon the joke)  and whispered, "Watch me carefully, this is going to be QUICK!"  I looked at him and said, "How quick?"  He grinned and said, "I want to get back to the Friary in time to watch 'NCIS' on cable."

We FLEW through that Mass tonight.  I'm bloody EXHAUSTED!  But it went without a hitch, the choir was right with me and I was right with Fr. Anthony, we got those six little dears all Baptized, Chrismed, Garmented and Candled in RECORD time.  And it was very smooth.  Heck, I even got home in time to watch 'NCIS' and I live fifteen miles from the church, LOL!

So:  Tomorrow:  Another balmy day predicted (OK, OKAY, SORRY I MENTIONED IT!)  and more work on and UNDER the MR.

Jeff:  I feel for you, I've got two access holes under the Buttes and I built them when I was handsome and skinny.  I'm neither anymore, and popping myself up into them is a REAL chore, these days.  However, if I tried your technique, I'd have the Buttes right in my lap, because my cross-bracing there is all discombobulated.  But I know your pain, believe me!   Unfortunately, I can't do much to widen the access holes, because that's where my hidden reverse loop runs.  In fact, if I'm not careful when I rise up, I whack my chin on the track.  Ah, planning----Whistling

Mark:  Take it from a high school music teacher, you keep working on those drums like you are, and there isn't a high school in your area that isn't going to want to kidnap you.   Like I said, "You da MAN!"

Going to hit the late nite TV tonight--I DVR'd an old movie called THE BIG CLOCK with Ray Milland and Charles Laughton (you HAVE heard of them, haven't you? Tongue).  Saw it on TV about a year ago and it's one of the cleverest thrillers I've seen in years.  Finally got a chance to record it from TCM, so I'm going to curl up with a beer and some pizza and enjoy a classic movie with a nifty plot and GREAT dialogue.

Best to all, continued prayers to those in need.

Tom Big Smile

HM--looks like late night pizza's on me.

Evening all, finally got a chance to get back on here after spending the day doing practically nothing.  I did get the whole plans thing taken care of for my daughter's birthday party, so there's no more worrying there.  I am going to get my parents to bring my GP40-2 with them so I can being the process of fixing/detailing/painting/weathering the locomotive so its ready to go (who knows maybe I can get out into mom and dad's shop after I get the locmotive weathered and at least get a loop of track again and just run some engines.  Zoe, I'll have a RBF, and a bowl of vanilla ice cream.

Seems a bit quiet here. We were out to dinner this evening also. We went to Murray across the lakes from here. We decided not to have bait shop pizza. this time. Instead we had prime rib at a good restaurant.

Edit .........Wow...... Look out for warm eather in Washington state.

Evening, Flo - I'll have a hot chocolate and a glass of water, please. Kinda stuffed from my beef stew I fixed earlier in the evening. Any of you Diners ever have too much left for the containers you have to put it in? Well, I did tonight, and I didn't really need that second helping on the beef stew. (As he waddles over to the chair by the woodstove...) Flo, if I fall asleep, will you wake me up before it's time for the day shift to come in? Thanks!

Sheesh, don't you Diners know that on Saturday you're supposed to be working on the layout stuff or doing laundry instead of posting a whale of stuff in here? Three and a half pages of posts, Wow!!...

We had a heat wave today - got up into the 40's today (though the wind was still a bit strong). In the afternoon when I was out, I didn't even need my stocking cap to keep my head warm. So those of you east of us, there's hope for that snow on your front lawn yet! And Galaxy, once it gets there, you can find out if your pipes or the structure was making those noises...(I'm hoping for your sake, that it was the structure instead)

Lee, I got your email, and I'll be printing it out and digesting all the info you had in there before I go too much further on my wiring. Thanks!

I got some pics of that roundhouse kit I told you about earlier, but I'm afraid that my work cell phone camera doesn't focus close enough. I tried sharpening them up some once I got them in the computer, but they'll still have you thinking you need to go see your eye doctor after looking at them.

Above are the posts and beams that go between the tracks, and other pieces for the crossbeams and other longer pieces of wood trim...

The above are (at the top) the arches for over the entrance tracks (way too narrow, IMHO, so I'll need to make new pieces for them), and (at the bottom of the pic) the walls for the end of each stall...

And here are the two side walls.  But as I said earlier, I'll need to do some drawing out of the turntable, tracks and roundhouse placement to see what exactly I'll need to do (and how many other plaster castings/carvings I'll need to make).

DerJohn, sounds like you found yourself an OUTSTANDING(!) LHS operator. That's a great deal, all right. But then again, maybe you've done business with you before, and he knows you'll be back later to order more other stuff, eh? Wow, this is your first time ordering from him? Guess he's going for the repeat business (something a lot of LHS'es ought to do, IMHO...).Thumbs Up

Luke, that's a great video of #93 - maybe they could rent her out to Lee for clearing off his sidewalks with the steam...Whistling

Mark - so the guy facing the camera is the tambourine guy then, and you're turned mostly to the side,, right? Wait'll high school, and you'll be having even more fun with concerts. Yeah!!

NSJoe, how reliable is that girl's information usually? You may want to check the next time she has something for 'everybody' do, and see if it's actually happening at the time she thinks it is.

Sawyer, too bad on your team's loss - did you have a lot of guys out, with only five there? How many do you usually have at a game? And sure they have pizza here - just ask for whatever toppings you want. Dinner

Tom - hope you and the congregation can keep up with your priest tonight. Yep, I've been at some services at churches where the priest or minister really, really shouldn't try to chant (but does anyway)...Oops Of course, there was one lady in one church back in my married days who was consistently off-key, but she sure put her heart in it! Being in the same pew as her and trying to stay on key yourself was a real exercise in discipline, if you know what I mean.

Rob, if it were me on breaking that ice, I would've started with the hammer... How're the critters doin' with your cold spell, by the way? (Not like they're gonna put on a sweater or anything, huh?)

Bama, I loved your phrase "...so today I might be able to get out and do some plundering..." Laugh Made me think of one of those 'Viking' credit card ads...

Unca Rog, thanks for that clarification on your actual job duties (and the tip on the household goodies - it never hurts to hear it again). Sounds like you got the dreaded 'timeout error'. Welcome to the club on that! And I like your idea of "Extreme Makeover, Model Railroad Edition" Smile,Wink, & Grin

Jeff - one word: OUCH!! Don't do that again, okay?

John1947, good to see you in the Diner again. Stop by soon, all righty?

Todd, I'm looking forward to seeing the pics of your pizza/bait shop/garage. Having fun just trying to get a visual picture of it...

Well, after all my catching up, it's about time for me to head for home. I'll see everyone tomorrow, hopefully (those of you who aren't frozen/snowed in, that is)...

Blessings and prayers and a warm spot for ya,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Spent most of the afternoon woorking on the Pizza/bait place. Decided to add a garage attached to it so travelers and local folk would have a place to get their car or truck worked on. Since the location is on what will be a blacktop two lane across from the Post Office/Bar. It seemed appropriate for the garage. Haven't come up with a name yet. It'll come to me.Whistling

On second thought I'll have a mug of Hot chocolate and sit in the back for a bit and check out WPF.
