I had installed a rather lengthy HO scale Slot car track between two cities on my layout and was in need of old time trucks and cars to run on the roadway. When I posted my request for a source of such automotive vehicles,( on the Trains Forum I was referred to "Faller Car Systems Starter Set.com", on my computer. The battery operated truck that I purchased as part of the Starter Set, is guided by a magnetic tongue protruding from beneath the movable front wheel set, which is steered by a wire buried just beneath the center of the roadway. After charging the battery for seven hours, with the adapter.charger (provided with the Set), the truck ran smoothly around curves, reverse loops, as well as on the straight roadway. My only complaint was the fact that one rear double tire wheel fell off, and the truck body was too loosely attached to the under carriage.. A few drops of Testor's glue solved these problems. I faithfully followed the directions for burying the wire just below the surface of the slot car "slot" and the truck ran perfectly. To my surprise, I then discovered that the truck followed the curves, reverse loops, and overpasses with merely the two slotcar electricaL contact strips, just as well without the buried wire. Although, rather "pricy" at $120 for the Stasrter Set, one can purhaps justify the purchase of a fleet of cars and trucks, if the price is $60-$70 per vehicle. Faller did not include an order blank for individual vehicles and fantastic accessories (like the Stop Station for stopping and starting the vehicle at intersections or in parking lots, lighting, etc, etc. (as shown in the internet video). Just thought you might like a product review, before investing in the Faller Car System Starter Set. I love it! Bob Hahn
