Winterisation hatches on SD40-2 ?
Posted by iomtt on Saturday, November 22, 2008 6:31 AM

 Hi  all,

Were  winterisation hatches  ever  fitted  on SD40's  if  so  are  there  any  pics of  them   as i  have  a  body with damage  to  the rear  centre fan on a  new body,  ths  would  save me  buying  a  new  body  if they  were fitted.

 Many  thanks in advanced.

Unforturnately, the winterization hatch won't help you if your center fan is damaged, since the hatch covered the forward fan.

If it's just the fan that's damaged you can buy just the fan. If you check Walthers web site you will see them. Cannon, Detail Associates, Details West and probably others make them. Prototype locos are sometimes fitted with different looking fans, same diameter but slightly different shape. [Taller etc.]
