More of a wish: I would love to see the BLI L-4 Mohawks come early:

Tom, I hope your wish is granted, and Luke's, too.  Mine won't be, but I can be patient as Tom was patient.  I was hoping for a QSI-equipped Sunset CPR Selkirk, but production has been put off indefinitely.

I'm wishing by then I have my layout put back together and can run trains again.

Oh, and maybe I'll get some stryofoam to use for terrain on the new section. (Does Santa follow these forums, or am I just engaging in wishful thinking? )Whistling

Atlas ACF 23500 gallon tank cars. Republic in 4 numbers and GAF in 4 numbers.

Wait.. it's all out of production. Nuts.

Otherwise I dont have a christmas train list. It's either boughten and paid for this month or coming in next year because of back orders, limited run orders, pre-orders, announcement orders, reservations and stacks of stuff that is not going to arrive until April 2009 at the earliest.

Oh well, maybe next Christmas I will have all the stuff filled by then.

My wish is for BLI to bring the GS4 back into this year, not June 09. Maybe a good 8th grade graduation present? lol.

No one buys me trains but the Atlas GP40-2's are due in December so I'll be buying as many as I can afford.  I already have one unnumbered unit payed for (pre-ordered) thought the Rio Grande Modeling and HIstorical Society.

The only train-related thing I want for Christmas this year is the space to build a layout along two walls of our second bedroom. Big Smile

Only one thing on my Christmas wish list, but it won't be in until January, so my delayed Christmas present to myself will be the Sunset Z-6 4-6-6-4 in Great Northern garb.

Of course if one of my relatives happens to hunt up another M-4 Yellowstone or another Rio Grande L-131 2-8-8-2, I wouldn't object at all, LOL! Tongue

  1. (1) Red Caboose BN Autorack
  2. Pay for the (3) Atlas C40-8 locomotives I have on layaway at the LHS
  3. Put money in the bank for the (2) Kato SD70ACe locomotives I have on order at the LHS
  4. Put money in the bank for the (3) Atlas C40-8W locomotives I have on order at the LHS
  5. Take leftover coins and change from sofa cusions to Coinstar machine, take cash to LHS and buy some track so that #1 through #4 will have something to run on!
  6. Not buy anything else major for the railroad for a LONG while so I can focus on giving instead of getting. I am working real hard on moving this item to #1 in the list.

While I feel badly for them, it doesn't change the fact that for me, and for others on this forum, things haven't changed.  In my case, I already have most of the materials needed to build a layout, so even if things DO get a little tighter, procuring the rest (benchwork materials) shouldn't be terribly difficult.

Limiting it to 10 items:

1. Sound decoder for an Alco C424

2. Athearn Genesis F45s with sound/DCC

3. P2k GP30 with sound/dcc, and P2k BN GP30s 2223 and 2216

4. BN F-units with sound/DCC (seems like athearn only made, i dunno about 5)

5. Bicentennial BN units. (Atlas has the U30C and the Cabeese, athearn has the SD40-2, but no one makes a good SDP40 in plastic)

6. Alco C636s and Alco C425s in BN. (atlas makes the later, but not in BN, the former is only in brass)

7. P2K GP20s in BN with sound DCC.

8. BLI SD7/9 in BN

9. Atlas SD24s in BN.

10. lots more 70s era freight cars.

Stuff out of my hands:

1. an end to the limited production crap. (seems like there were less than 10 of some of the above units that have been available)

Also, being able to finish all my projects

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Well, I don't really get any train stuff for Christmas, but I am getting something for my B-day (my parents don't have the smallest clue on what to get, they don't know the difference between the scales and they don't know what loco and cars are the right thing) (no I'm not saying I hate my parents for not knowing, I still love them.) so I picked the stuff out and they bought it and hid it from me. Now for my list-that-will-never-happen list, A 8x20' HO double loop layout complete with full scenery, all locos with DCC and a Digatrax Zepher system to run them, and (of course) cars to go with them, all the cities and industries correct for 1950's Santa Fe line in the Midwest with a 4x8' staging and rail yard w/a round house, and loco repair facilities.

That's about what was on my list when I was a kid.  Keep with the hobby and you may get there one day.  Of course it will not just show up under the tree.  You will have to make it happen.   Visualization + Desire = Reality...or so I have been told.

My list:

box of Atlas code 83 flex track

enough materials to handlay 27 turnouts using Joe Fugates method

27 Tortise switch machines

1X4's and plywood

screws, glue and nails

etc.

An airbrush, and compressor. That pretty much takes care of that...

With my current income I'm aiming on getting the parts and decoder for my S4 so I'll have that ready for Springfield. And once I get that job I am needing I can afford Rapido Osgood Bradley Coaches!

1.) PCM GN S-2 4-8-4 if they ever get around to it, they have two already sold.  A fair weather cab and a winterized cab.  Don't know how they are going to fit in with the Portage Northern, but then again, I can make that up as I go.

2.) A dozen or so Kadee 55-ton offset side in Milwaukee colors

3.) some DPM wall panels.  Got a corner module I have to finish and I need to add a second story to the trolley barn and some other downtown stuff.

4.) A good 1930's fire engine

5.) 2 more Erie B steam shovels

6.) 12 HO M3 Stuarts

7.) any thing else that relates to the 30's or 40's that I can stuff on the layout

Hi!

Lots of comments to make on the subject, so I'll be brief.......

-  I especially liked David Bedard's "list", and wish him a wonderful Holiday!  And for those that celebrate the December 25th Holiday, please remember that it is called CHRISTmas, and is much more significant than the exchanging of gifts.

-  If I were to wake up Christmas morning with surprise presents under the tree, it would be nice to see:

   *  A Digitrax Super Chief set with a handful of Stewart loco decoders

   *  Brown/orange, Illinois Central lightweight & heavy weight baggage and RPO cars

   *  The BLI RSD-15 w/Quantum sound that I sent in for repairs this morning.

Ok, one more thing which came to mind when the economy was mentioned in earlier posts....

Remember, it's called a Recession when your neighbor is out of a job, but it's called a Depression when you are out of a job.

ENJOY,

Mobilman44
