Well, guess what? I now remember why English class is annoying. This poetry crud. We have to do a take-off poem on this one we read today in class that has an abba rhyme scheme, and an iambic quadraticmeter or something (not sure how to spell that, point is, 4 sets of a low-then-stressed sylable per row). So yeah, it sucks.

Not much to report we had a good Sunday at church. 85 attendance. About 15 more and we’d have to open the overflow room. Had to play hooky though, the wife’s cousin was in Spfld for a couple of hours and went to have B-fast at the truck stop and say Happy Birthday. So does it mean you’re a redneck if you celebrate your birthday in a truck stop? (her husband is a truck driver and she was riding with him delivering cheese around the country.)
Sawyer- Don’t sweat the poetry, It will come in handy someday when you least expect it. Unless it starts out “There once was a lady ….”
Jason, pardon me but I never caught it before, I see we are both fond of the T&P. Mine however is a modern freelance. I notice you’re Navy, at least you folks have a dry place to sleep and an ICE CREAM MACHINE!. Don’t deny it, I knew some submariners and A LOT of Marines. Now, now, no jokes, believe it or not I have a soft spot for them.
Well better go to the basement and stare at the layout for a bit before old age sets in and I fall.

Evening all. Last Sat was my Birthday, but I don't tell you all that, least not until I'm a major. (one more year) Here's the Late Christmas/Trainshow/Birthday haul. Christmas with Dad included a 1999 Athearn Cristmas set, a rivarossi mail car to be repainted into the 587' tool car, Autn Jan sent dad and I four roundhouse hoppers ( santa-fe, up, bn, one forgotten) and a roundhouse bn boxcar. Friday Dad and I picked up a MilkBone hopper from Mantua, which needs a dog in it and a partial load, and a Sargento Cheese car from Athearn.
Train show revealed a Lima TGV Powered-coach-coach-unpowered for 20, motor has a short in it, a walthers kitchen car, a four car set of IHC worktrain cars, a roundhouse Lima Locomotive Works demo baggage car, several holiday commemorative cars, a pre-DCC P2K C&O BL2 for $10, and a Athearn commemorative swticher dummy, $20 can't win them all I guess. The best part of it was working the Naptown booth and seeing the enthused kids come over. One perant I rember asked us if we could test an engine for him. "Sure." Old Spectrum GP30 in Pennsy. While I put it on the track, he's riding about "did I do good? Is this a good locomotive? etc. I set it on, dial in 00 on the controller, and it takes off like a dream. Not a peep., not a grind, not a noise. Barely even the ltronic hum of DC on DCC. I catch the price tag on the box that says $20 on it. He keeps asking if he did good, and his kid asks if that's his engine I'm running. "Yes, it is." It's good, right? he lowered it to 15. "If you keep telling me how good it is, you aren't gonna get it back." I joke and return the loc to it;s box and back to him. He was pleased, I think. I warned him of DC, and of the warranty card in Bachmann.
And for the birthday, rahher ironically, Dad had gotten a set of four of the Roundhouse Lima Loco Works demo cars way beforehand. None of them the baggage we got at the show. No clue that we'd find it. Do still need to assemble them though.

Todd, I love the T&P their old main line ran about a mile from my grandparents house in Millsap, Texas. Of course by the time I came around it was the UP. My brothers and I used to spend our summers walking down the tracks to Bennett where there is a brick factory. There was also a Cotton Belt branch that ran north of my parents house, but it's owned by the Ft. Worth and Western.
My road is freelanced too. I'd rather take aspects from multiple railroads and turn them into my own. I'm going to use nothing but T&P Muley cabooses in my fleet. I'm not going to deny anything about the food on the boat. It's pretty good. The quality goes down a little bit once we switch from fresh to powdered eggs, but I don't complain. Espcially on day 70, our cooks do pretty good considering what they have to work with.

Finally, it is warming up around here.
Dick, We got the last of the fire wood put in the woodshed. Some of it was pretty dry for being out in the weather. I am still hoping that we won't have to touch it though. Sorry to hear about the furnace problems. Is your wood heat supplemental heat?

Dick - that sounded like an expensive repair (and would have been worse, likely, if you hadn't been able to pinpoint the problem for them already. Glad it turned out less expensive - after all, you have to keep your parking spot at HD warmed up so the ice doesn't build up on it, right?
Buggy, it looks like everybody else got to answering your question about the login problem before I got to it. Hopefully, you won't have much difficulty with that from now on. Main thing I wanted to suggest was to copy your last page location (URL) and save it in your bookmarks (if you have one already, use organize bookmarks - if you use Firefox; forgot what it is in MIE (Microsoft Internet Exploder...). )

Got half of the walls for my background building started yesterday - the ones with blank wall on the lower floor and windows on the upper level. I found out I didn't have the DPM modules with the freight doors, so I'll have to order those from our LHS owner/club member this week or next club meeting.
Today at w**k, I went along with my new co-crisis-w**ker to have him assess a person at the County Jail. He'd been to the local city jail but hadn't been to County yet (with the computer voice announcements and warnings, and the electronically controlled doors, "just like a real prison should have", eh?). He did pretty good, but said the paper gowns they put 'em in when in isolation should be (his words) "gender-specific"... He knew some of the officers there, from going to the shooting range (and he's taking a 'concealed carry' course for a permit which involves going to that range).
Everyone take care and stay warm - except for our Florida Diners (who can stand some rainy weather, I'd guess. Prayers for healing and comfort for those in need of same.

Hi, all...man, going back to real LIFE was quite the experience, today (I'd gotten used to not thinking about work AT ALL for about 12 days there.) At least nothing awful happened.
Hey, Sawyer: I recall having to do POETRY junk in high school, back in those good old days, when we walked 18 miles to school in a snowstorm, naked and covered in our own excrement, backwards, uphill both directions, battling hungry dinosaurs, and all that.
I thought anything to do with poetry was so GIRLY and wondered why our MALE teacher was forcing such crap on us GUYS. So, told I better come up with SOMEthing as a poem, or face a failing grade, I thought back to a childhood saying, that most everyone is familiar with (the one about "rich man, poor man, beggarman, thief...) and turned in this ridiculous item, assuming I'd get slapped upside the head: "The buttons on my coat tell me I'm going to be an INDIAN CHIEF. I'm a girl." The teacher gave me a B+ for that, to my great surprise.
One of those girls who was all competitive about getting the best grade in every class, had a total FIT over it (it was tacked up on the wall, as if it was GOOD, just to twist the knife blade into her twisted little soul.) Next day, "THIS IS TERRIBLE" was written across it in her shade of lipstick, so no one had to wonder who did it.
I have a feeling she grew up to become a women's prison warden. And SHE is probably on a message board somewhere, right now, telling this story from HER perspective, about this annoying twerp in her senior English class, ending with how this creep no doubt grew up to become an INSURANCE AGENT.

We are very fortunate with all the new members of the diner that have come in over the Holidays. (I think they have all been lurking outside and peering in the windows occasionally.) However when they saw Ryan's Pecan Pie they lost their shyness and made a run for the counter. They all sound like a great bunch of fellas and I would like to Welcome them to our Special Place as well. I have had some interaction with Buggyman in another thread, and boy when he gets started I know we are going to see some great work, and I am confident by the sounds and questions from the others that they will shine too.
Well I am batching for a few days as my wife has gone to some Corporate meetings in Edmonton, but she takes good care of me and left me lots of grub, so I won't have to come to the Diner for supper the next couple of days.
How about those Canadian Junior Hockey players. Tonight they beat the Swedes and won WORLD GOLD for the fifth time in five years.. WAY TO GO FELLAS, WE ARE REALLY PROUD OF YOU>

Good evening, just got in from Monday night candle pin bowling, rough night, we only took 2 points.
SUE: The two wood stoves are supplimental heat, although when they are both ON, and the temps are 20F and higher, the furnaces never needs to run. We have plenty of wood stored, so we should be Ok.
JIM: Yes, I was happy that the bill wasn't higher, and by me doing the TS ahead of time, I saved a big bill for sure. As for parking spot at HD, I have a bag of salt in the car to keep in clean, occasionally someone tries to sneak into my spot though.
JOHN1947: CT John, yes, I will save whatever coins I can between now and the BIG E show. That is the biggest and best MRR show in the Northeast each year, wouldn't miss that even in a blizzard.
FLIP: So all the shoes went to Haiti. Well that is good, they sure can use them in the ultra poor country.

Caulked the upstairs bathroom shower. Belt-sanded down the scrap boards contractor nailed in (between bedroom and dining room) so carpet can be laid evenly.Also drained 3/4 of the water holding tank out front to make room for over 1" of rain currently falling. Might be overflowing by morning...time will tell.

We're under a winter weather advisory here, it's 27 outside with freezing rain again. Nobody I know can ever remember a winter with this much ice. I'm guessing we'll get a blizzard one of those days.
Seen a report on last year's weather finished up for this area. Above normal precip [15"] and below normal temps.
