Afternoon, Janie - I'll have a root beer float, cheesey fries, and - oh, those chili dogs look very tempting - a couple of chili dogs, please. Thanks! Well, looks like I have the dinner tab, eh? Okay, Janie, start the total for me...
Robby P.Jim I'm not sure. Heres another shot I took a few months ago.
Jim I'm not sure. Heres another shot I took a few months ago.
Jeff, is that four chili dogs, or just two very long chili dogs? I'm glad to see your appetite is still alive and well...
BridgeTom, I guess that priest's mother got scared by a classical musician when she was carrying him. And ain't it great to be appreciated by your two furry friends there (even if it is every mealtime)?
Sue, Mark, or any of our other Great Northwestern Diners - you would have loved our weather in Cape G. today: drizzly, grey and high in the low 60's (F). Just like a lot of your weather up there, eh? The temp's supposed to slip a bit (into the 50's F) tomorrow, and then drop off to 25 F Monday night. A little like a cooler version of Paul's weather.
Today I did a little fiddling around with the DPM modular PDF images, and came up with this idea for one background warehouse or factory:
I'm thinking of doing it in red brick, with some cracks in a couple of windows, and a nice long loading dock across most of the track side of the building. I may have to do some tinkering around when I pull out the DPM modular pieces and start assembling this. Oh, the two ends (between the outermost reddish pilasters) are the sides (which will be at right angles to the back edge). Still debating how to put the signage on it.
I knew something was up today when I left my apartment to come to the Diner. At the end of my block, I see five or six police cars, all pulled up to the curb with lights on, on the two streets along side of the corner apartment building. After getting into my car and I'm (very carefully) driving by (not wanting to be mistaken for whoever else they are looking for), I only saw one officer (outside the downhill side of that building - it's on the street corner), talking with one woman. Didn't see the other 5-6 or more officers, so I guess they were inside, cuffing some people maybe. Suppose I'll see about it on the evening news tonight. Definitely time to start saving up for new rent deposit - sheesh! I'd guess the neighborhood has gone downhill more than I realized since I moved in some years ago.
Welcome to the DIner, Buggyman! Your GEO train layout for the grandkids sounds neat - and if you want something fairly easy on the eyes, Paul - over in Texas - models ones big enough to ride on. (Yee haw!) Of course, you need a bit more room for that kind of layout, but hey!... And hey, don't worry about having your team embarass you - we've all had that experience at one time or another, I'm sure.
Got my Walthers flyer yesterday and looked through it last night and some today. Not sure who it was that said the vehicles were half off, but that must just be on the N-visible scale ones. The HO prices are pretty good though...
I'll be settling down to w**k on these two chili dogs now.
Hope everyone gets some MRR'ing (tinkering, reading or building) in today. Any word from Inch about Jerry? Prayers for him and for all those in need of healing and comfort.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau

Not sure what the deal is with the forum's software tonight, but I'm having trouble with setting the color of text - sometimes it'll take the color I set, and other times I have to go back and re-edit it, setting the color again, before the post will show the color (first time on some attempts to set the color wind up with just black...).

Oh no. The hand cuffs typically come between the party and the county jail.

buggy, yes, the Packers sure do man-handle teams, lol.
Rob, yeah, Mike Vick is a PITA, wish Flaocns fans would wise up and let him go. What I'd love to do is get a vick jersey, put "con' in front of "Vick", then put "t" behind, lol.
Well, the cardinals are up by 2 scores.
Hung out at my friend's house today, he goes to Camden military academy, but he'll be going to my high school next year.

Yeah, he can still come back, if the commish will reinstate him.
Well, looks like I was wrong, the Cardinals won.
Evenin' gang!
The NMRA Meeting went very well today and it looks like we are off to a good start on this year and it looks like I have a lot of work ahead of me to make sure all the planned events happen (and happen to be great events!). It was also fun to see the layout of that gentleman who hosted the meeting (he was superintendent of the division 2 terms ago).
Tom back when I used to sing a lot of weddings there were several churches that wouldn't let and secular music be used during the service itself (I used to like those churches as I felt the same way), but I have never heard of restrictions like you have been put under. BTW some of the churches that specified sacred only music would still allow that particular pop song from Wagner's Lohengrin. I made it very clear that I didn't play that when I was a (more or mostly less) organist..... Hope the Mozart is spectacular! Wish I could be there and sing it with you folks!
Have a great evening!

refill, please & thanks. (I know it's late...don't care)
Falcons didn't deserve to win that game tonight. That being said, the Cardinals hardly looked like a Super Bowl team, either. At least one of my 3 teams won that game. Third team would have been the SeaHawks, having lived in that state, too. Oh well.
***Sawyer, that's a great idea for a T shirt.
***BC, Congrats on your third RS2, neat locos. Sold mine long ago to make room for more steam. Kinda miss some of the diesels, but am content with the current steam roster. Always room for more though.

I’ve gotta hankerin for some peach pie and a tall glass of milk please.
to the diner Buggy. They have some great cooks here, order whatever you want. I’ll give Jims card a break
Laid some roadbed today though not much. I’m trying to get at least a loop completed so I can run a train around the world of Toddavania (of which I’m king) I really need to seriously think about a name.
Boy those chili dogs smell great, Nah better not, after the fried cabbage and beans I had for supper last night….
Well gotta help the little wiffy carry Christmas decorations downstairs

I will just have a sweet tea, and just relax for now.
I was wrong as well. I thought the Falcons had the game. Well right now I am pulling for the Colts. If the Colts win, and hopefully the Dolphins win tomorrow. The Steelers will play the Dolphins. I rather see them play the Dolphins, rather than the Colts. They already lost to them (Colts) once this year.
Anyways.........Got a quick question. How good are those "Hustler" switchers? I was going for something simple, and not alot of money right now. I have seen them on eBay, and I believe Wolfgang has something similar his layout. Just wondering if they are any good.
"Rust, whats not to love?"

I'm pulling for the chargers, b/c A) I like them better, and B) my sister is such a bad sport.
Hallelujah, I thought that the timeout message was because the software didn't like my Mac. I'm glad I'm not the only one having that problem.

Good evening again---I'll have a couple of those chiledogs with a large glass of root beer please
Yesterday was my day for TIMEOUTITUS--Where did this come from? I thought there was something up with my compooter---Wherever it came from we should all tell it to go back in its box--- or get on to a collective
Anyhooooo---I'm attempting to put some pix back up to see how the weathering looks this time---I put it under VERY BRIGHT LIGHT this time and I didn't see any Streaks----mind I wear bifocals and tend towards floaters----this should be interesting---
Evening Gang:
Well you guys and gal have been a talkative bunch today. It won't be long untill we'll have to move the diner down the track again. In fact I'm suprissed that Bergie hasn't suggest that already.
One of our kittens is missing tonight. It's a black with white paws and some white on it's nose. we have four kittens that we take inside every night. In the morning they have escaped the box and will wake us up with there rough housing outside the bedroom door. I saw it this afternoon when I was in the shop but it didn't come up for dinner. I checked the shop but not there. I hope that it shows up in the morning. I got to stop getting attached to little ones.
Haven't run the new locomotives yet. I need some really bad weather to keep me inside and cleaning off the layout. It made it to 80f today. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be around 45f.
Well it's late and since I've been up since 4am I should get to bed before I fall asleep at the keyboard.
Good Night All

Paul, sorry about not responding quicker, I completely missed your post this morning. I grew up in North Richland Hills.
My grandparents were from Millsap (I've spent a lot of time there and in Mineral Wells). My grandparents lived about a mile north of Millsap on 113. After Grandpa passed, Grandmother sold the property and moved to assisted living in Weatherford. They lived where Millsap ISD is building the new school.
My dad owns property in Brock, and his brother lives in Weatherford. My favorite place to eat is at the Farmhouse there in Cool. Unfortunitly I haven't been able to make it out there the last few times I've been on leave, so I don't even know if it's still around. Looks like we have the same stomping grounds.
The weather may not be as bad as all that they were saying---FREEZING RAIN and all that stuff. I have three seperate forecasts saying three seperate things ---- are we ?? You betcha!
Anyhooooo-----we are all resting here doing nuthin' and thinking about g'nite.
Evening everyone. Just got back from playing Epiphany Vespers--hoo boy, talk about THEATER! In the best way possible, I mean. We had Sacred Dancers this time--Epiphany is almost a big a celebration as Christmas if you're Roman Catholic--and in my Parish, they celebrate it in a BIG way! The music was spectacular--I'm exhausted from playing it--and the Homily almost made me stand up and cheer! GREAT evening--a perfect end to the Christmas Season.
Okay, now that I've got that out of the way, .
Blownout: You told us of "Spring's" new toy, but you forgot to mention what it was--it's not the RS-3, is it? If so, then I KNOW that he and Remi and Spooky are e-mailing each other when we're all asleep, LOL!
Robby: You know if I were modeling diesels, I'd be using those W&LE colors, only with a "Rio" and a very large "GRANDE" underneath. Those are really handsome colors, aren't they?
Buggy: . I think you'll like the place. And the Forum in general. I know that I sure do!
Ray: I think we convinced Father Andrew that Mozart is NOT 'secular'. Especially after I kept my cool anhd calmly explained that "Ave Verum Corpus" is probably 36 measures of one of the most exqusitie religious choral works ever written, and that Mozart was Austrian, so of COURSE he was Catholic. Whew! As Kay said to me later, "He's lucky, Jim's favorite choral work could have been CARMINA BURANA--what would he have done about THAT?" I cracked up. 12-th Century Latin drinking songs? I admire his wife, always have--she's keeping a level head about this. Much better than I am.
Got the news today--the Z-6 is supposed to be on the boat from Korea. Now if the boat just doesn't SINK!! I still can't believe that a big, hunking brass model of one of the most powerful 4-6-6-4's ever built and with a Maxxon motor and directional lighting is going to be mine for what I think is an absolutely BARGAIN price! Okay, you all know I'm a Brass Freak--just me, understand, but this one is coming in at a price that for me seems a steal! Normally I buy used brass at prices somewhat like new BLI's, and the last new brass steamer I bought set me back quite a bit--but it was worth every penny, the way it runs--but this one is going to slide onto my Yuba River Sub for far less. Wow! Of course, I'll have to hide it from Remington, the way he keeps eying my Yellowstones. Spooky STILL hasn't convinced that big Viking that cabeese are easier.
Speaking of--he's EYEING me again. Food time. I think Spooky sends him in here: "Tell the big bald guy that it's time for dinner, okay?"
SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED!
Best to all, prayers to those in need.
Tom

Went n seen JERRY yesterday morning. Seems his bedsores got the best of him at home, so he went in the hospital for a night, then the nursing home. He's healing up now and hopes to be back home this week.. SALLY's doing ok too, she'd been staying some with their son while Jerry's been gone.
We had heavy fog last night and it was still foggy when I got up, but it's lifted now. Weather guessers had rain changing to snow today, but the radar shows nothing anywhere close to us. We've still got cold, rain, freezing rain and down right nasty weather forecast for the rest of the week.
Thought about trying to catch up some in here, but the post seem to be multiplying rabbits lately.
WELCOME to all the new folk coming in here lately, good to have some new faces along with all my friends.
And a Happy Burthen day for anyone I've missed.
Looks like most everybody's been busy with trains and such. As for here, well there's nothing new going on to speak of. Have been running trains some and getting a few odds n end done on the layout.
Was watching the US farm report this morning and they had a segment on the G scale Christmas layout at the UT Gardens. Found a link for it here.

I was sure hoping Falcons would beat Cards. But, the Chargers did beat the Colts, so I'm a happy camper. Now to find My BIL and collect my $10, plus give him the same hard time I got over the Bears.
Plan on watching the games today, I'm not picky on the Dolphins/Ravens game. But hoping for the Vikings over the Eagles.
Best gets round ta chores. No big plans for the day [other than football], but am hoping to get over to the LHS this morning, if Mothers in the mood.
Thoughts for all those in need n hope ya'll has a gooden.

Good morning from Sundown Louisiana. It's currently 68 and cloudy. The high will be in the mid 70's and there is a chance of rain.Didn't get much done yesterday. I started work on rerouting some layout wiring that was displaced by the installation of the new heater last week and I had to repair a leaking water line outside the trailer yesterday. That's almost as much fun as teaching brain surgery via long distance telephone call with constant service disruptions.Today's Weather for:Sundown, LA 71446-6114 1/4/2009Wind Chill: 66°FHumidity: 100%Dew Point: 66°FSo Far TodayHigh: 68°FLow: 66°FRain: 0.00"Rain Rate: 0.00"/hGust: 7mph SSWIsolated light showers moving northeast at 15 mph can be expected over the inland region and over the near coastal waters west of Marsh Island. Good Morning from us up here in mixfused London----wherein we are now sunny with current temps of -8C. We are under a FREEZING RAIN warning with freezing rain/drizzle this morning changing to occassional showers this afternoon and a high of 5C. There is also a chance for a THUNDERSTORM this afternoon. Tonight will stop having showers and just be cloudy with a low of -8C and winds of up to 60kmh from the west----are we mixfused? Around here we have a bit of everything in one day-----
