Thanks for the advice. Can Krylon be bought at Walmart?
pc: so sorry. My prayers go out to you.
Aww dang it.
Drinks on me!
thanks guys. I need to add some more girme to it yes, but not going to do that until I have it ready to be sprayed, those chalks DO rub off, I ruined the job on my rs-1 and C-Liner that way when I was taking the shells off the body and removing the windows and such. I'm saving the U23B for last, as I want to be good at sealing locomotives and such before I mess with it.
Jason, as to a forgiving system, these bragdon powders (they aren't chalks at all, lol) are the way to go. I tihnk anything that's wet will work to take them off.
I'm happy right now, two people who moved away way back when (a guy I knew who lived next door who is maybe 4 years or more older than me who moved to New Mexico when I was 6 maybe, and a girl who moved to Florida back when we were in 5th or 6th grade, IDK). It's fun to chat with them now, lol, just wish they'd get on.

Spent a few hours working on the recording. They now want to start over on the songs......... They have some new ideas and he wants to lay down the drum tracks first and then all the other tracks (which is what I suggested 2 years ago in the first place). All the tracks on the album will be done by the two of them. There are some great songs on it....if we ever get it finished. The instrumentalist can only record when he is on vacation from teaching and can get back home.
Only real bummer for the day is I found that when the amp blew this Fall it also clipped one of the drivers on my Tannoy near field monitors. ($800 a pair retail back when I got them, although I picked them up used for a great price.) So I have been online shopping for a new pair. Prices on high quality near field monitors (passive or unpowered) have dropped considerably in the last couple of years as more people are buying them for home theater use. so I will get out of it only adding a bit over $200 to the credit card. Hey it's only money...... Ended up getting a pair of of Alesis Monitor 1 MKII Passive Monitors. Should have them next week.

We'll get there sooner or later!
The weatherman just gave us a PITA forecast---snowsqualls after a 15cm dump which will give us another 15cm tomorrow---eeerrgh---and I got to go out of town tomorrow
The things one needs to do with the layout---discover that I need to find some make-up brushes as wife's old one which she lent me actually works better with powder--duh!--than any of my sables----grumble grouch---so I went and found some---picked some up for Audrey and now we are 2 happy campers. I also found some dullcoat at the local Home despot so we will see what occurs with 2nd victim---I mean subject
Now that that is out I'll have a nice cup of dark roast--decaf--that way I'm not up at 3am going and clinging to ceilings---

Evening Gang: I've not been in for a while. the weather here has been pretty good later in teh day so I've been trying to get outside things done. Today started out at 30f this morning at 4:30 and by 2:30pm it was 77f. How's that for extrems.
The locomotive and the last two cars for my Twin Cities Hiawatha should be here next month. I am anxious to see what the entire train will look like.
We're both doing fine.
PC prayers are with you and your family.
Well I'm off to bed.

It is now snowing---can't see much outside but 'Spring' has given us entertainment in the form of dipping his teabag/bird toy in his cup that he drinks out of in the sink. Thank goodness he hasn't taken to doing this with an E8that needs a good washdown----
And now the wind picks right back up---60kmh from the East then 60kmh from the NW tomorrow---oh joy---blowing snow as well now----
Good evening, managed to get more work done on the new train room this afternoon. We had more snow overnight, so first order of businees today was to get driveways cleared, bring in firewood, get the wood stove fired up and then head over to HD to get supplies needed for new train room. With the economy tanked and no one building houses, 5/8" plywood was down to $14, and 2x4 studs were $1.64. I was going to have the HD salesman cut my plywood to 30" X 8', but their saw was broken....OF COURSE, the ONE DAY "I" go tther, the saw is broken $%%$#$%!!! So the guy helped me load 12 2x4's, 3 2'X8' 2" foam panels, 2 sheets of 4'X8' 5/8" plywood into the car ( Explorer ). It was brutally cold and windy today, and this HD store sits high on a hill. As we were loading up, I heard my wife yell "watch out"!!! A guy across the lane had a plywood panel take off in the wind and go sailing across the street nearly hitting a car coming in.
Tomorrow morning we have another snowstorm hitting us by 6am, 6+ inches due. We are headed out New Year's Eve to the Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield for a sleigh ride and a roast beef dinner cooked in a 250 year old giant fireplace that has probably the oldest meat turning fireplace cooker in the country, it works on weights. We make our own seafood chowder in the fireplace in a huge black iron pot. After the sleigh ride through the pasture and meadow, we come back for hot cider or wine, then up for the meal. It will be cold, but a lot of fun. Monday theri was no snow on the ground up there, but by tomorrow night their should be about 8", plenty for a sleigh ride.
SUE: Do you own a sleigh and any horses on your ranch? That sure would be a great ride in the snow.
PC: Sorry to hear of your loss, out thoughts and prayers for your family Philip.
JEFF: That new heater could not have come at a better time. The air up in Alaska id extremely cold, and is ready to push south on the jet stream. It was -40F in Fairbanks this morning. Next week we will experience this air mass, not -40F, but darn cold.
DER JOHN: This storm is going to "explode" when it moves off the New England coastline and is headed right off the EAST coast of NS. You "will" get snow good buddy, and plenty of it, so you had better get that snow blower repaired....fast!!
In case I don't get online tomorrow due to this impending snowstorm, a very Happy New Year to all of you and your families. May the New Year bring you God's blessings for the year, and good health.
Bon Soir
Large Eggnog, please & thanks.
Trouble falling asleep, so have been studying the latest Walthers flyer. A few items in there caught my eye. Who here has used that flexible highway stuff and would you recommend it? Also, is it flexible in a "sideways" direction (to make gentle curves)?
Good night all.

Good morning and---HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE sort of---
We are expecting some more snowflurries and snowsqualls with 7cm accumulation ---maybe. The temperature is going to stay around -8C with a low of -13C and of course with the winds up to 50kmh will give us a windchill of about -16C or so.
I've got a couple of clients to see today who live to the west of us. The condx are not going to be great what with snow and blowing snow---they're advising people not to drive---that would be great but----

Morning all!
I thank you all for your prayers and support over the last few days. It's been tough. Your being there has helped.....Thanks!
For any others that are hurting or in need, I pray for you also.
So, the last day of the year, huh? Guess I'll probably work a half day and then go home. Shoot, I may leave before that. I've already been here and hour and mine is the only car in the parking lot.
I'll just be chillin' at home tonight.....what do you all have planned?
pcarrellI'll just be chillin' at home tonight.....what do you all have planned?
I'm working from home until 4:30 today, also expecting an appliance repair man sometime between 9 am and noon this morning.
Tonight Ben's girlfriend is supposed to come over and watch movies until mid-night then I'll crack open a bottle of sparkling cider, that's about it for our New Year's celebration.
What you doing tonight PC?
Sawyer; Our prayers go out to you---we're here if need be--
Mornin' everyone!
"I'm dreaming of a white New Years....." Sorry about that. We got around 6" of light fluffy stuff that is now blowing here and there in the wind overnight. I also have more recording to do today before heading out to my son's house for the New Years Eve Party. We used to have some of his friends over to my house years ago before he married for the party. Mostly sat around playing euchre all night and imbibing too much. Now we go over to his house and play euchre might have a drink, and hope to stay awake long enough to see the new year in............
Now another of our own needs us today. Sawyer is going to his brothers funeral today. Sawyer, my deepest sympathies and prayerful support go with you on this day. I truely understand what you're going through, and I think I speak for us all when I say that we're there for you.
Sawyer, my deepest sympathies and prayers to you and your family at this time!
I have to get the snow blower running soon or the musicians will have no place to park! Hope you all have a great and safe New Years!
Well I will have some OJ for now thanks.
Power went off last night, twice. In a 5 minute span. Happened around 3:00 this morning. Next thingt you know, there goes the fire whistle. The vol. fire department is about 10 houses up from us, and that whistle is LOUD. I guess maybe a car wreck or something. The whole town was black. I just now got the internet back and going.
How am I going to celeberate today. Well..................right now working on the layout and getting ready to make some trees. Probably hit up the hobby store today, and see what I need from there. Next start drinking by 3:00pm, and will be out on the floor by 6:00pm. I will say by 12:00am I will be praying to the porcelain gods!!!
Now if you believe that, thats a different story.
Good New Year's Eve morning, All. I will have my usual coffee and cinnamon roll. Is anyone working today, or are we all starting the celebration today?
Dick, I haven't had a horse for 10 years. I just didn't have the heart to replace my old gelding. The steers are there to mow the grass and to eat.
Ryan, Are you our resident consultant for our party? What do we need to serve for our New Year's eve party?
Errands today, but we will get some layout time tomorrow.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Ray, Barry, I'm sorry about misinforming you about our friend Sawyer. I accidentally posted the wrong person on the wrong forum........not enough coffee yet today, clearly! Sawyer and his family are fine to my knowledge.
Today will be going to friend's place--pick up some beer and stuff to eat---then going home with goodies and settle down for the evening and fiddle with some RR stuff--not under any influence of course---
Have a safe evening-----

Think I'm heading home early and cooking a ham for tomorrow. Beyond that, probably not much.

I'm back in my Navy clothes today for the first time in a week and half, so I'll take a big cup of black coffee please. I'm on duty today, so I'll sitting on the MR website and surfing other train related sites. Yesterday was a great day, I spent most of the watching Thomas DVD's with my son, and playing with him on the floor with all the wooden Thomas trains his Grandpa and Mimi got him for Christmas. I think I'm going to take the plunge today and purchase my first piece of brass. I'm going to buy a T&P Muley Caboose imported by OMI. Well I'll check back later all. Have a happy New Year.

Thank goodness for that! I was wondering what might have happened???
BTW, I was wrong about the snow. We got so far about 10" of the white stuff here in Geneva. Still coming down.................. sideways! It gets really bitter when you are running the snowblower and it decides to blow right back in your face. My New Years Eve plans are subject to change as necessary.
