Yes they do, I had to buy the loading dock kit to make the dock run the length of the building.  It came out pretty nice.  I had to modify the roof parts a little to make it look right.

Afternoon all

Paul  There was some steam there but more are going to diesels mainly because of everything you have to go through for the boiler inspections. The M-1’s are from Wal-Mart and he waited until they dropped in price and they are R/C.

John  The crane really looks good.

Sue  Walther’s round house and since the first pic I have made some changes in the benchwork as you can see in the next pic. Also haven’t painted it yet and the roof panels just sit in place so that when I start adding interior details I can take the panels off to show them.

Good evening, where is everybody Jeff??  The Diner is empty!!!  Today we went to LHS, didn't buy too much, just 3 mags and a package of 25 sets of Kadee #150 couplers. I have some old cars that have the old horn couplers, plus several cars from years ago that have missing or broken couplers, so the repair barn will be busy working OT. Under the lights like Colby's yard. Plenty of nice buys, but cash is low right now, can anyone guess why?

Duke, you've been making great progress on your engine terminal - it'll look spectacular once you get things done and installed in place there. Is the coaling tower the Walthers one? It looks good in the weathered grey there.

Sawyer, good job on the roster and descriptions for your locos. I think you've put more time into, and thought things out more, than I have so far. I just kinda get the locos that are from that time period I'm modeling, and that I like the looks of. Maybe I should put some more thoughts down on paper for my RR, huh?...

I have Walthers modulars, the 3-in-1 kit and the 4-in-1 kit, plus some foundations, docks, fire escapes, etc. I built one building from some of the modulars that resembles (more or less...) that yard office. Now, if I could recall which box I put that into when I was clearing off the layout a few months ago... Ah, I'm sure at some point I'll find it.

I confirmed that the barrier terminal strips I have will fit with the smaller spade terminals (crimp-on) that I have, so once I get the right wire size to fit them, I should be ready to progress further this weekend on my wiring. Hey, I might even have some powered track by Thanksgiving!

Well, I wanted to get home a bit earlier tonight to read some in my wiring books and notes, so I'd better wind things up here. Prayers for those needing healing and comfort (and a nice warm stove/furnace for the night, in our Northeastern areas).

Think I'll head home before the forum software demolishes another of my posts. Time to go read some of my wiring books and notes. Found that the smaller (red or blue insulated) spade terminals will fit into the barrier strip terminals that I already have, so I'll see which wire that I have would w**k with those.

My progress has been interrupted a bit lately with non-model-railroad stuff. However, this afternoon I put together a passenger car kit, and this evening I worked on my layout expansion.

Tom ... I see you are still awaiting the Z-6. I laughed at your remarks about the Yellowstones may get jealous. Is your knee recovered now?

BTW, last week at the RJ Corman dinner train , I saw they sell a special run of an Athearn HO set. It's a freight train with all equipment lettered for RJ Corman. It has a GP 40 or GP 38 (I think), two freight cars and a bay window caboose. Price was $150.

Jim getting electrons to flow in a concentric circle is always a fascinating challenge

since the electrons really don't care what color the wire is here's a method I use to help keep the little gremlins in line

 

when installing the track feeder wires I always drop the outside rail feeder { that would be the rail closest to the outside edge of the bench work}

first , I then tie a small loop in the wire before attaching it to the buss

 

The loop forms the letter O which stands for "outside feeder"  so i can tell at a glance from under the bench work which wire is which

Garry,  I am kitbashing a walthers 3-n-1 building to make a background building.  The first one will be a warehouse. I started another thread for suggestions for the other background buildings, so we will see how that goes.

Good Morning All,

      Just above freezing but dry here. Overcast skies but hopefully the sun that does get through will heat things up a bit. I'll have a regular and a cheese danish please Zoe. Still working on the basement clearout. I now have all the boxes of projects moved out and all the buildings boxed up and off the layout. So far I've lost the Laserkit wooden depot, a house, and the barn to mold/damage. The factories will survive as they weren't hit directly by the falling ceiling tiles, but the row houses on "Railroad Ave" are mostly ruined. They will require total rebuilds as the roofs got soaked and then flattened by the soaked tiles. It's discouraging, but it will all come back better than ever once the house is fixed.

Well, gotta run todays project is building a new rear axel for a Lotus 7 out one from an MG Midget. No problem - just cut the brackets off and start over.  CUL, J.R.

Sue,  We had a house fire Memorial weekend that took out my sons room and smoke damage that necessitated gutting the entire second floor. They took so long getting their act together that the contractors didn't get started until late August. When the remnants of hurricane Hanna came through in early September, they had the roof ripped off and  just the roof joists in place with a tarp over the joists and a second set of tarps on the second story floor. needless to say the tarp failed and the secondary tarps let most of the 6" of rain through to destroy the first floor kitchen, walls and the trainroom below the kitchen. I now get to rip out the rest of the house and start over including the entire finished area of the basement where my hobby bench was and the train room which had enough water to take down much of the ceiling tiles. Other than that, not much has gone on this summer.  That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger.       cheers, J.R.

Sue, I can tell you second hand. Both JR and Rob had house fires. Rob's house burned to the ground. Firemen put out

JR's fire which was upstairs. Water damage to JR's basement was significant. It's my undertsnading that much of JR's layout is salvageable. JR lost his lifetime collection of plastic model cars that were in the attic. JR's house is being rebuilt, and I look forward to seeing his fabulous city scens poste again.

Rob is getting a new house altogether. He will have a dedecated layout room. I'm looking forward to seeing his new layout posted soem day.

They can tell you more.

Meanwhile I'll have black coffee and a pecan roll.

This first kit is kinda ruff but I learned alot from it and think I can do better on the next one..I have a JL kit Saw Pit Store that I am going to start latter today..

Good morning, brrrrr into the 20's last night, but well west of us in the Catskill Mountains of eastern NY they got 20" of snow. So much for global warming, snow before Halloween??? It has warmed up to 39F.

Working on MRR repairs today, new couplers on cars.
