I like a little of most genres--my CD's cover everything from George Strait (country), Stevie Ray Vaughn (rock, R & B), Bruce Springsteen (rock), Alice in Chains (grunge),
Tupac Shakur (rap) to the Kingston Trio (early rock?? don't really know how to describe them). Just depends on my mood as to what I'll listen to and when. Don't particularly like today's music, but "Five For Fighting" is good and I even like some "Outkast". Just
my thoughts and likes. As far as today's country music, it does all seem to sound alike to me.

Country music sucks. This is the learned opinion of someone (me) who used to be a cowboy and semi-professional horse trainer when I was a teenager. Now WESTERN music is OK in my book, as is bluegrass. Johnny Cash and Chris Leddeux are in my collection, but definitely NOT the Oak Ridge Boys or the Dixie Chicks!

I prefer the old rock and roll from the 50's and 60's with some CCR thrown in...Now I can listen to most types of music except for rap, head banging and the rock of the 80s to todays.I can listen to country music but prefer the older country from the 30s-70s.I also like to listen to music from the 20-40s and the big band era but loath sympathy music

Country (BARF!!),There is no country music today. Country of today is basically rock from the '50s(YUCK!!). Country is lame, and always will be(it rots your brain, too)!! Rap( of any variety ) SUCKS, Pop BLOWS!!, most of the alternative is too freaky. In all, the only music that is still what it should be is Hard Rock, not the speed/ death metal, not the "Afro-Americanized"rap/metal, but good "crunchy" rock sounding stuff!!!

Play a country song backwards and you get back the wife, the kids, the house ,the car ,the dog, and the boat, but play it forward and you get nauseated!!

I don't like the modern country, but I do like old country, along with blue grass and folk. [C):-)]
[{(-_-)}] I also listen to jazz, classical, heavy metal and everything else but rap, pop and modern country.
Also, I like to add, I can't stand watching American Idiot![censored]

classic country music is my favorite. anything pre 1970. for some reason, i dont like anything done in the 10's or early 80's. but late 80's to about 1993 is good. anything after that pretty much sucks except for a song here and there.

but i am not picky. i listen to pretty much everything. when i get tired of country i play some Insane Clown Posse or some modern alternative rock or maybe even some Reggae

man, i sure love this XM radio.

Yes I do. I listen to it quite a bit but I also listen to a lot of "classic rock". That includes, at least for me, every thing from Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly to early Elvis, the Beatles up through Led Zepplin, Janis and Jimmi Hendrix. "All Along the Watchtowers" still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Leonard Bernstein once said that there are only two kinds of music that have ever been written, good music and bad music. He said that the difference is the good music lasts.
Enjoy,
Tom Watkins

[#ditto] I'm with Roadtrp, and voted no. Country is not much country anymore. It went out the window with the loss of the likes of Webb Pierce, Earnest Tubbs, Waylon , Johnny Cash, Patsie Cline, Kitty Wells and Skeeter Davis to mention a few. At least they didn't have to go half dressed to sell records, their singing talents did it for them. Also I still love my pick-up truck!!! [(-D][(-D] And my dog, and my cat , and my wife and the dirt road I live on is debatible.

Country's not my favorite, but I enjoy it now and then.

My opinion on rap: I only like the music, and is it cool! But punky teenagers sceaming crude and stupid poems on fast cars and girlfriends is definitly not my type.

For the most part I don't like it, so I voted no. There are a few exceptions though... I do like Lonestar, Willie Nelson and Faith Hill. And I like looking at Shania Twain... [:D]

I recommend the Derailers, from Austin, Texas. Excellent band. I also like the Hot Club of Cowtown, the Mavericks, the Waco Brothers, Junior Brown, Asleep at the Wheel, old Buck Owens, Patsey Cline, Bob Wills...if it's good it's good.

I listen to country every now and then. Alan Jackson is cool in my book. Sings about everday life without having to "trash" his songs.

I mainly listen to modern smooth jazz (1980s-present) A lot of the "upbeat"(Chuck Loeb, Phillip Brown) tunes make me visualize riding passenger trains, at speed. Puts me in a good mood!

Hip-hop and "head banging metal" is too vulgar and crude for me [V], but I'll respect other peoples tastes. [;)]

ya i enjoy listening to country but i'm also beginning to listen to the band called Hatebreed, a very heavy hardcore hard to understand band with a lot of yelling and vulgar language. i'll listen to them and in the same tray i'll have Joe Nichols or something. my tastes are like black and white.
