Trainworld Newsletter
Posted by Marty2001 on Friday, September 12, 2008 2:09 AM

Greetings . I am interested in finding out what is in a trainworld newsletter. Is it similar to the factory direct sales emails I receive? I am also wondering if any forum members have ever had a problem subscribing to the trainworld newsletter?

I have tried 5 alternate email addresses over the past 2 years, which all failed to receive a trainworld newsletter. I have emailed trainworld for assistance three times and phoned them once. They were unable to resolve the issue. I had given up on the issue, but one of my fellow train club members now has the same problem.  The only reason I am persisting is because despite the expensive postage, trainworld is still nearly half the price of my LHS here in New Zealand. I am guessing that I am missing all the trainworld sales emails as I receive many emails from Factory direct trains, internet model trains and discount trains online.

Thanks for any help

Marty,

It may be easier to just download the sale items in .pdf format and skip the e-mails altogether.  Here's the link for HO & N:

P.S.  Marty, I noticed that, although you've been a member here for over 2 years, this is your first post.  Let me be the first to say:

I've been getting their newsletter for quite some time now.  Nothing much about it, usually just a few lines about current sales they are having.  For quite some time now their "sales" in the newsletter have been pretty lame, offering 10% off certain items.  And they've been mostly concentrating on O and Large Scale items for a while, neither of which interest me.  You're not missing much.  The sales are usually tied in with national holidays and events, such as Fathers Day, Memorial Day, etc.

Their website isn't much to talk about either, with many items showing the red "X" where the image should be, much of it hasn't been updated for years.   Don't get me wrong, I think Trainworld is a great dealer, I've gotten together with some friends many times in the past to place bulk orders to share their $25.00 minimum shipping to us in Canada.  It's just lately they haven't been offering anything much of interest to me, with the minimal discounts.

I agree most of their sales are only a lame 10% off BUT every now and then they do have Atlas sales where all in stock Atlas products are 30% to 40% off their advertised prices.  I've definitely taken advantage of those sales and my wallet took an abuse during those sales.  I picked up a few DCC/Sound locomotives at some REALLY low prices.  For me, i just wait until they have a good deal and ignore the 10%-ers.
