Time for Weekend Photo Fun!
Nothing too impressive to start off, I'm afraid. Just a CSX boxcar I bought recently to use in interchange service, as well as my progress making the Wisconsin & Southern weed sprayer train (as seen in Proto Info).
Can't wait to see what else you've all done this week!
A weed sprayer huh ?
Not a bad idea !
I spent some time this week Scratch building the C&O station at Mt Hope
since I finally found a photo of it

We'll get there sooner or later!
Hi All: Nice start for the WE. I dirtied up my yard and loco service areas last week. Before: After: Before: After:

Only one thing new this week. My fire dept had a callout to one of the switchman shacks.

A GP-9 being brought into the roundhouse..
Not much new on the MR this week. Had to put my "Basket Case" Yellowstone 'in the shop' and fiddle with her Universals, the other day. Got it cured, and here she is on a practice run through Wagon Wheel Gap. She runs nice and smooth, now.
Just one example of why I've gone with 34" MINIMUM radius, LOL!

Jacon: Again it;s the people that stick out. Love the scene. The background is a tad fuzzy though, the ------ Company building
Tom: All I can say is summed up in this. PPPPHHHTTT!!!

Absolutely marvelous picture, layout and "basket case" Yellowstone. The Yuba sub is a favorite.

I haven't done much modeling this summer, so here is an old pic of a Shay drifting downgrade to the yard.
Thanks Morgan, I love getting people in a scene because it kinda sets the scale.

Great work, every1. I couldn't get to sleep last night, so I built a small loco fueling/sanding rack. It's not complete, though, No pictures right now, I'm in Florence, but I'll have some tommorow.
Enjoy this shot:

I only have one picture this weekend. I did some ballasting the other day, and wanted to show it off. (8 out of 9 pictures blurry, lol.)
This is a first layout... Try not to make too much fun.
That my friend is an awesome shot. The building is out of focus because his F-stop was not set high. He probably didn't have enough light. IMHO this guy beats most of us here for modeling skills and your worried about a fuzzy building in the background???
With the help of inspiration from these forums, the likes of Aggro Jones and Robbie P to name a couple I had a go at weathering a Covered Hopper. The original photo I stole from the Walthers site as I didn't have a before shot.
Here is a shot of my recently decaled "Wobbly" boxcar. I acquired this undec puppy at a good price during one of Kadee's online sales. Champ decals completed the job and the Portola RR museum has a PS boxcar in this scheme in their collection.
Thank you Loather
It was a well kept and properly cared for picture. j/k
Thank you all for the kind comments on the photo. It was taken with an 8 year old Nikon digital camera, the model 990
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikoncp990/
which is only a little over 3 megapixels but was quite the camera in it's day. As most of you know, 5 to 8 megapixel cameras are common at present. But, it was the only camera I had that would fit down in the roundhouse after taking a roof section off. The photo was taken at f/7 which was as small as this particular camera would 'stop down' at this focal length. They're not like a digital single lens refex type camera which can easily stop down to f/22 or even f/32 on some lenses. Light was one 150 watt bulb in a reflector to the right and up about 3 feet higher than the benchwork. Exposure was about 1 second at iso 100. Thankfully this camera has a manual mode by which you can set the fstop and the shutter speed the way you want it and it won't change until you change it. It does have auto focus though so you're not really sure exactly what it's focusing on because the camera is down inside the structure. But like most auto focus cameras it'll focus on a high contrast area so I pretty much knew it would focus on the bright yellow engine. The out of focus building in the background is all the way on the other side of the turntable so getting everything from the barrel to the building in focus would be quite a feat, one not likely to be obtained with this camera and lens.
Now if I was just HALF the modeler that Grampy is I'd be a happy camper...
My project for this week was to run all the trains to keep everything free rolling and to keep the electrical contacts clean, sooooo I set up a round the room track in my workshop and let them all run for 15 minutes in each direction. A couple even run a lot better.
My project tonight is a Maintenance office like the one in Sept issue on page 34. I had bought 2 of these cars for 3 each thinking they were different cars. Suprise they were not. So one got fitted with body mount kd couplers and metal wheels for now. It will eventually get a paint scheme for my senic railroad. The second one is now being bashed to the maintanence building. I have weatherd the roof and sides and cut off the underside bracing. I will add all the details that are on the one the mag.

That looks real good. Very nice!!
this S curve has effect of limiting the train length on grade unless a helper engine is used.
