Hi All: I couldn't wait for WPF this week. The Pennsylvania Line now has passenger service, thanks to a Christmas gift cert. from my younger daughter and Walther's Aug. sale.  The passengers at Stoney Creek have been waiting a long time for the train to show up!

HI guys,

    This weekend, I would like to propose that each and every one take pictures of their layouts from the point you enter the room to the point you leave the room. There is a thread on here wanting everyone to pick their "favorite model railroad" and in all fairness everyone should get exposure before posting to the thread. As soon as i get home from work i'll start a pictorial of my layout from starting point to ending point.  I don't have a snowball's chance in H E double hockey sticks of being a favorite, but at least the entire layout will be exposed on here before judgement is made on a favorite model railroad....chuck

I participated in a FREMO meeting at Heinsberg. It was a lot of fun and we had a few op sessions. Look at the pictures.

Added paper towels for moubntains (not soaked in hydrocal, but in plain water, we'll see how it all works out).

I've moved the loco servicing to a single long track (it only services 2 locos).

Both. I already pulled for three teams (Packers, saints, and Chargers), and the Jets are all right. So it ranks:

4. Chargers

Still mainly a Pack fan though.

In keeping with the 'What Layout' thread here are some shots from my layout.

One of my Atlas interlocking towers. I have three of these on the layout.

The Martin home. The structure conceals a speaker for the MRC sound system.

Freshly ballasted track to one of the engine houses. The loco is an Athearn AC4400.

This is at the far end of the layout, at the south turn.

Here's a shot of the passing siding and part of the interchange with the inner loop.

Been awhile since I added some photos to this weekly thread, and since I was taking a different approach to my photography this week, I actually looked forward to making a contribution this time around. 

Well I finally read the fine print on the manual for the digital camera and learned how to modify the f-stop for more depth of field in the images. I took all of these with the aperture at f-stop 22 and on a tripod for the extended exposure time. So I started with some shots of the locomotive servicing facility area of the layout. Chuck, I would love to participate in the full layout series, but I just don't have a collection of images in that format at this time.

Great pictures so far, and it's only Friday afternoon.....

Here's a sequence of photos. The GN has running rghts on my fictional division of the old Burlington Route. A set of Alco units is hauling an eastbound frieght train.  In one phto, the meet the Empire Builder.

This is what I have done for a few days.  Its a old looking ABOX.  Hand painted graffiti, and good looking rusted roof. 

 

 

Next is a engine I did for a guy.  I added some MU cables, air hoses, ditch lights, and a snow plow.  I am waiting on a GPS for the roof.  He's happy, so that makes me happy!!!

Thanks.  I'll tell you the worst part.  I didn't have the drill bits.  UGH!!!!!!  I had to go 20+ miles for 2 dang bits.  But, it was worth it.  Got another train car in that trip and got some shots of a train going by, which I seem to forget the camera all of the time.

First, let me congratulate you on your timing, ... this last week I removed every unsecured structure from the layout, all the vehicles, and a number of trees and bushes that were loose and/or falling over.  It's part of a 3-months-late "spring cleaning" project.  My plan is to clean, inspect, and make necessary repairs to each structure before replacing it back on the layout.  So right now my layout pictures would be very unimpressive indeed.

I guess i'll just give a tour of the layout room. I began the layout in May of 2004 and still have a long way to go before it's looking good.

  As you walk thru the door the new Hearne yard is to the right.

After leaving the Hearne yard the scene becomes the Shell refinery. The refinery sits in the middle of a wye so the trains can turn around.

The trains can travel in two directions. Here the train can go to a dogbone island.

and under the layout

or stay on the top level and come into the El Paso Yard. Here's engine service which I'm gonna redo one day.

Here is the west end of the El Paso yard.

and the east end of the yard. The lower track is where the island reappears on the layout thru the tunnel.

After leaving the El Paso yard the trains can go into another three level dogbone island that is still the plywood central

or into the Houston Ship Channel spur and the end of the layout. The entrance / exit door is on the left a few inches from the end of the Houston Ship channel.

Wonderful photos this weekend everyone--and we've still got two days to go! 

Grampy's:  I know I'D be a happy passenger on that handsome train--especially if I got to travel through that handsome layout of yours!   Beautiful shots. 

CW suggested we offer a tour of our layouts to co-incide with the other thread on 'favorite' layouts.  And BTW, CW--that yard trackage of your SP layout just makes me drool--wish I'd planned for something like that (he said, kicking himself). 

Anyway, though I kind of did this before, I've done a lot more on the layout since, so here's a kind of mini-tour of the Rio Grande Yuba River Sub.  Unfortunately, my layout really can't be photographed by 'overall' views, my mountains are just too darned high, LOL!

Opening the garage door, you're immediately faced with Plum Creek Canyon, the Sierra Buttes, and Sierra City:

Then Bassett's and the Yuba Summit Tunnel:

Then Yuba Pass on the other side, with the Deer Creek Viaduct in the distance:

Below that, we have the yard at Deer Creek with the viaduct and the bridges over Malakoff Hydraulic Diggings:
