I'm another one that doesn't post often.
Last weekend I bought a Walther's Cornerstone Track Bumpers kit. It has the parts to make a dozen track bumpers and I had some fun customizing some of them.
I tried painting them different colors, Primer Red, Two different types of Black and Safety Yellow.
I also discovered that using the bumpers from the kit stock meant that they would not stay in place without being glued down and that they would not sit level on Atlas Code 83 track, the spike heads were spaced just wrong.
To solve those problems I glued some excess ties, cut in half, onto the bottom of the bumpers. I also trimed down the sides of two of the bumpers where I need to use them on Atlas Code 83.
Just some fun had on the cheap ($10 or the same as a single movie ticket here locally ).

I like your solution. I had a Devil of a time getting those bumpers to stay put on my Code 83, also. I finally just 'over' ballasted the end of the track to have something for them to sit on. But I like your solution a lot better.
Great work everybody.CNJ831-----Outstanding picture!Haven't posted lately, to many outside projects going on. So here's one old engine shot and a spray can smoke job on a highway trailer.

It needs a headlight, but I know not the science of how light casts to properly simulate. Twas fun though

Great stuff. I have been trying to learn how to paint with a spray can. Tom said I could. Here is the black on my Shay. It has been waiting since 1967. It will get a decoder with lights but no sound. Also my Penn Central with its first assignment.
Are you smiling, Art? I am. I think that was a nifty experience for you, and I hope you are enjoying it. I see it seems to have turned out quite well.

Art:
By George, I think you've GOT it!. Looks good to me, nice and even finish on that Shay.
And I just LOVE that little Penn-Line of yours. Talk about a little loco with tons of CHARACTER!

Thank you, sir. I like what you did with it. I think that the light as such would just be reflecting off of the inner wall right in front of the tunnel mouth at that point.
But thank you. Nice job.

I noticed that my website page for the HO layout didn't have any photos of the trains, so I took two photos to fix that. I also took a photo of the gas station for another post.

I can't believe how much stiff is already showing this week.
Over the past week I've worked on the large warehouse, a Walther's double track warren truss bridge, and I did some scenery on the club layout around the area of my bridge overpass I built.
I put on all the cornices and bricked up some windows.
Here's the warren truss bridge. A nice kit to build.
Here's the scenery at the club. It's just the beginning base textures. A lot still to do. One of the main things is to sand down those bumps in the road. A quick VIDEO of the area.
Here's a really nice kit a guy at my club built and donated. His name is Dick Miller. He has some really nice skills. Next to this area he started some scenery. You can see that in these VIDEO 1 and VIDEO 2.
That's it for now.
Keep the axels greased and the tender full, we're rollin' now.

Nice photo. Two versions of the El Cap. I run the 1957 version and you run the combined Super Chief/El Capitan. Looks like both of ours are Athearn powered. Santa Fe all the way

I knew you would get that one. I can back-date my train to the late '50s (my layout's era), but am liking the "Big Jacks" right now. They don't fit my era, but I couldn't pass them up!!
The baggage/dorm is a bit blurry in your pic, but it still looks great!! I recall when you started that project.
Now, on to drinkin' beer and working on the Sunset Limited.
Nothing from my layout, but here's a railfan photo I took this week while standing 1,053 feet above the river.....
Don Z.
Research; it's not just for geeks.
Well the security gurads at Fred's were busy today. They first caught this tresspasser on security camera, then gave chase.
They contacted the hostler who quickly spotted a V&AL E-7 in the tresspassers path. The nimble tresspasser merely went OVER the larger locomotive...
He then climbed the roof of the truck repair shop:
Unfortunatly the tresspasser was too busy looking behind him that he never saw the oncomming TX&GC weekly run-through:
This is why they have "NO TRESSPASSING" signs up at busy rail yards...
We will never know why this spider had to run from the security guards. Another young life cut tragicaly short.
I have another take of a similar picture of my fueling facility.
4x8 are fun too!!! RussellRail
ARTHILL wrote:Don Z. Great pic. If you would have said that was from your layout I would have complimented you on the realistic water but suggested that the rocks were the wrong color and not very realistic looking. So much for my judgement.
Nice weathering job on the roof of the F unit though!
