F40PH for the Poland Project
Posted by Artur on Sunday, May 11, 2008 8:45 PM

I finally found out were the 16-cylinder diesel engines out of the Ex Amtrak F40PH locomotives ended up in. Looks like the are being installed into the M62/ST44 an old Russian made diesel locomotive.

"Rail Polska have introduced even more comprehensive modernization project. In 2006, three M62s (M62-1117, M62-1121 and M62-1108) from Estonian EVR railways were fitted with GM 645E3B 16-cylinder two-stroke diesel engines, rated at 3000 hp. These diesels were taken from withdrawn class F40PH locomotives (Montreal, Maine & Atlantic RR)."

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for the info. Those of us with Polish heritage appreciated the info and websites. Hopefully,  I will be able to take a trip from Sterling Hts., MI and see it for myself.
