I haven't reformed !!![:-,][:-,][:-,] When I was a kid my favorite shows were Thunderbirds, Speed Racer and the Addams Family, so I grew up addicted to expolsions, and devious thinking, I used to recreate that famous train scene from the Addams Family when I was a young kid. Its amazing any of my old Lionel stuff survived!

Beleiveme, ANYTHING railroad related would be better than the morinc "reality TV" that they have now.
If they want to give some guy a million bucks and have him build a model railroad, now that may be worth watching!

that would help get alot of new people involved in the hobby and it would also help with a "how to" lesson that could be too hard to explain on the forums or the website.

This just caused me to consider a big reason why this has not (and may never) happened. To produce a MRR show that demonstrates modeling techniques would directly threaten revenues for those companies that sell “how-to” products (books & videos). [:(!]

Unfortunately, (and with apologies to our hosts) there is probably too much money to be made in selling this kind of information for it to be given away for free on a TV show. [|(]

So the internet will continue to be our best hope to freely share the wealth of information about our hobby.[sigh]

Spencer Christians Track Ahead show wasn't very interesting to me. He would usually feature 3 different topics, of which I usually was only interested on 1 of them.

DYI has a series on building a model railroad, I think it's 6 episodes long. They only seem to play it between Thanksgiving & Christmas though. If you go on their website it gives the directions for what was on the show, even months later.

The TechTV show Screensavers had a segment on DCC that I don;t think would be too helpful to anyone who didn't already understand DCC.

After a couple of snide remarks were posted last night I realized it's too bad Mr. Rogers and Captain Kangaroo are gone. They would've made this a show that may have resulted in a kinder and gentler hobby!

there could be a show about steam, modern trains, a show that travels around north america interviewing model railroaders and showing their layouts, one about garden railroads, classic trains, scratchbuilding, and one about indoor model trains that has tips and projects, and during the day there could be shows for kids; like tomas the tank engine, and the Adventures of Bachmann[:p]

we would have to get some big model railroad company like Kalmbach to donate some money though[8D]

I felt the same about Tracks Ahead. But one day I broke down and bought three 2-tape sets of the show just to see certain layouts within. Lots of fast-forwarding! [(-D]

I could picture the setting of the show taking place at the local LHS, Kind of like the old barber shop where everyone goes in not to buy but to catch up on the gossip.
You've got your "Tim" types, "Red Green" and company and of course your Grumpy Old Men Groupies. This is do-able guys!!! And don't forgert the league of anti train spouses.
