Blue Line J1 Sound
Posted by mj3200 on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 2:36 PM

Does anybody know of a way that you can mute the volume on a Blue Line J1 in DC. It seems from the manual that a DC Master is needed if you are not on DCC, and there doesn't seem to be a screw under a hatch or anything like that.

Thanks

The blue line sound decoder should have come with a remote hand held throttle in the box with the locomotive to adjust / control the sound, lights, horn, ect. If you don't have one, then you might have to purchase one from BLI. The locomotive's sound is encrypted in the onboard sound decoder and can only be controlled by 1. a hand held DC locomotive function control module or 2. a DCC throttle that changes CV's.

If you go to DCC then you will have to first program the BLI's sound decoder to an address and then purchase a regular decoder and install it into the locomotive and then program that same address to the sound decoder's address to get it to work ....chuck
