I'm officially a model railroader. I found a cp rail kit on ebay with all the stuff to make it run. I made the first run the other day, with the wife and kids around. I'm still not sure who was more excited, me or them!Smile [:)]

Any tips on HO lighting for buildings is welcome. I've seen some lights a while back with a tall tower and two spotlights, one on each side, but I'm having no luck finding them now. Anyone know where I can find them?

TomCat:

Welcome to the wonderful disease...I mean world...of MRRing! And especially if the wife and kids are excited too! You are one lucky man!

Sorry I can't help with your lighting question, I'm now only getting into lighting some of the structures on my pike and I have a very long way to go and a lot to learn myself.

There are, however, many people here on the forum that have some extremely detailed, lighted structures, that I hope to someday emulate.

None the less...Welcome aboard!

Cool! Did you buy a train set?

Some folks use these to light their buildings. You can just use white mini Xmas bulbs with the proper resisitor. Do a search at Walthers for search lights. There's a few different ones there.

Welcome aboard, and the same for the family.  I wish mine would get excited about the trains, but such is not the case.

Thanks for the comments on my site, it's just a little thing I enjoy doing, plus other people can have a look see what I am up to, If you are ever comeing this way (Kamloops area) Let me know and we can do a layout tour here.

The 1972s and 1973s have been on backorder for months.  Another option is the Miniatronics versions:

They are a bit pricey and the reflectors are a bit oversized but they don't look all that bad in a yard.

Check out the Electronics & DCC forum.  There are a couple of lighting threads over there.  Here are a few others on the subject of layout lighting, wiring and room lighting.
