Does a Soundtraxx DSD-101LC come with a speaker?

No, the speaker is sold separately.  Measure your available open space for the speaker and get one with an enclosure that will fit.

You have to solder the two purple wires from the decoder to the speaker.  Most of the small speakers that will fit into models have solder pads to which the wires are soldered, and you'll need a soldering iron with a very fine tip.  You can download the manual for a SoundTraxx decoder from their web site and read through the speaker iinstallation instructions.

The smart alicky answer is - wires .

In the directions it will show several different ways to connect speaker(s) to the DSD.  I don't have any LCx but all my other types of DSDs and DSXs have two purple wires for the speaker.   There should also be a capacitor included that goes in the speaker circuit.

The speaker space in the 2-8-4 is 1 inch long x 1 wide. So a 1inch speaker & a 1 inch baffle would work?
