Well if I were to pick an American livery, I would pick Delaware & Hudson's Blue & Grey with the Yellow "lightning stripe".
But my overall favourite livery is of course everything Canadian Pacific either the Maroon & Grey, Pacman, Dual Flags or the "Golden Rodent"

I voted other for Union Pacific's Gray-hound scheme, as on some of their Challengers, MTs, and FEFs.

[8D]I model east coast railroads, but the Santa Fe War Bonnet will always be a beautiful, American classic!

It's the one paint scheme that was the most recognized by the general public in the not too distant past.

When mom and dad went to buy Junior a train set, what was he likely to get in a diesel set? [4:-)]A Santa Fe F7 with freight or passenger cars in either O or HO scale.

Just about all the manufacturers made a Santa Fe F unit: Lionel, Marx, Bachmann, Tyco (Trains You Can't Operate - sorry couldn't resist), Bachmann, Lifelike, Atlas, American Flyer, Athearn,
Viva Santa Fe!

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

To my mind R.J.Corman's locomotives has to be among the best color scheme I seen in may a day..Of course the C&O Blue and Yellow is tops for me.

I like the NYC gray w/stripes, PRR had nice colors as well between the passenger and freight and the gold striping. but I would have to say the Western Maryland Circus scheme was an eye catcher in my region.

Clinchfield black/yellow. Close tie for second - Southern Tuxedo and N&W black.
(As you can tell, I prefer black engines)

I really like the SF warbonet red/yellow/silver color scheme and lining best,
allthough you might not expect that from an UP collector. . . and for steam:
BLACK with bits of silver

btw: Hey antonio, you forgot INTERMOUNTAIN their F3 is awesome!

Sorry Dougal,

If you saw two "57 Chevy Bel Air's, one in vibrant glossy red with gloss yellow and silver chrome trim gleaming in the sunlight, the other in an off the shelf solid blue paint, no chrome fenders, everything painted over in a way that looked like it was applied with a spraycan,

which would you choose?

I'd be heading down route 66 in my red chevy without a second thought.

I'd choose blue and paint a few can openers and number the car, but I'm not 16 yet. Oh well, it's only in a few years.

Southern Pacific's Daylight color scheme. Magnificence in motion!

The late Chicago & Northwestern's '400' color scheme is also one of my favorites.[^]

I voted for "Southern Green", though in actuality my fave is their black tuxedo version of the scheme. I don't model the Southern for some reason, but I do have an excuse to lead a few trains with black high-nosed Southern Tuxedos.

I voted for the Milwaukee Road. The first time I saw that paint job in color was in Walthers Catalog! I thought it was really sharp, but didn't fit my layout theme at the time.

Although I've always thought the NYC paint was very impressive and dignified, when you model in N it's better I think to use a color that shows up a little better.

Of course since I'm modeling the C&NW that's not a problem for me.

I forgot to mention that I also like Grand Trunk. I've sort of taken they're color scheme for my model railroad. I used SP Scarlett for the nose (I dont do anything else just the nose) and on the rear and I use Conrail blue for the rest of the body. I didn't want to use Grand Trunk colors and the GT design because I didn't want to look like a subsidiary of GT.

Your all crazy! I like engine black, with gray/silver on the smoke box and fire box, mineral brown cab roof, with a lite dusting of grime on the running gear and the words Northern Pacific on the side of the tender! Or, if you like diesels, the Raymond Lowey two tone green with center white strip on The "Mainstreet of the Northwest", Northern Pacific's own "North Coast Limited"! The only one even close, man, is ATSF's Warbonnet red/silver. However, I might have a bias?!?

I like a bunch of the choices on the list, and a bunch of others not listed, but I chose the orange and maroon of the Milwaukee Road as my favorite!

Here's one that I love, but I think it is more like MR's 75th Anniversary car, and a one of a kind paint job. Does anyone know how many were done?

By the way, the other side is a standard CN gray with red.

The SOO LINE hockey stick scheme was my favorite. But I'd have to admit , Those War Bonnets of the SantaFe sure are something.
