I was looking for a few more military vans to add to my layout and I found one on eBay.com
I bid on it and won it for $3.98 + 2.60 S+H, not a bad deal I'd say, but that is not why this will be the best eBay auction for a very long time too come.
When the van arrived in the mail today there was a note in an envelope taped to the outside of the box...Hummm, shipping bill of laden I thought...nope!
This is a part of the note inside,
"Jess I sent along a few other things for your layout, if you don't want them you can toss em".
Now what was in the packing below the starch biodegradable peanuts , "Hey did you know if you hold one to your toung that they dissolve...they do, that is what they are made to do, I could throw them out in my yard and after the first rain they would be gone, dissolved...oh about the toung thing....er, well, that will wait for another time.
back to my story, there were 3 police cars from 3 different departments and these little buggers are highly detailed, they were still in their plastic cube type boxes with older price stickers that had each cop car at $11.99 and a cement truck at $14.50 and he sent these 4 extra vehicles FREE...I can't believe my luck.
I had to drop him a line after the auction to let him know because of an incident here at home I'd be two days behind on sending out the payment, he wrote back that he was sending the van out anyway...BEFORE I paid the man...woweeee, now that is one motivated eBay seller...LOL!
I have since learned his name is Carl and I'd like to thank Carl here, I did write him a big email of my gratitude but I wanted to mention him here because I've read many eBay night mare stories here in the past, so I wanted to share the nicer side of eBay.
Carl, where ever you are, I hope your God is watching over you because I asked mine if he would.
thanks, you restored my faith in the good will of mankind.
Jess Red Horse.

Cool, more positive stories of eBay sellers and deals, I love it.
Now I'm going to go off on one eBay seller that puts low prices on his stuff but triples the shipping charges...what is that all about???
He's not going to like my next email thats for sure!!!
Happy Rails my MRR Friends!
The old ''low-price-high-shipping'' appraoach is pretty common, especially on ''but-it-now'' listings.
To avoid any unreasonable S&H charges always read EVERYTHING before you even think of bidding, and I personally avoid any auction that doesn't list a S&H or at least have a calculator for S&H, the ''Ill send you an invoice after auction close'' is a easy way to get gouged on shipping, if you bid you're signing a contract saying you will pay whatever charges the seller wants to add on so be careful.
here are the pics requested from my eBay of a life time deal!
this is the army van I won for $3.98, A nice HO scale military van!!!
This is what was also in the shipping box when it arrived,
Imagine my surprise, the seller "Carl" also had a very heart warming note added to the shipment, Thanks again Carl for refreshing my hope for humanity!
Jess...is the cop car in the middle a Georgia State Patrol car?
Yup that one is a Georgia State Patrolcar.
Why?, are you from there?
Happy Rails.....

Yeah Red Horse, I'm from Georgia...and I usually saw them behind me!
Here's "The Bandit" running through a field with GSP on his tail.
Still looking for a scale Sally Fields...
Smokey and the Bandit was filmed in my neighborhood and surrounding areas. The Bandit had to have a space on the Georgia side of the layout.
The Illinois side gets The Blues Brothers.
Thats so cool....I didn't know that...Wow!
Now I'll have to locate a Bandit T/A....LOL!
I'd rather have Daisy duke driving it though....hey I CAN SO....it's my train and I'll do what I want with it....LOl!, In that case, I'm having Hallie Berry driving the T/A with Paula Abdul riding shot gun....awwwhhh come on now....I can do what I want, it's my town and I've built it, well ok, maybe my layout will be more like the Twilite Zone than the Train zone but that is why they let me play with trains at this instatution....oops got too go, not supposed to be in this side of the locked ward!!!!
Happy Rails!
That's a pretty good deal.
I bought a couple BB Athearn boxcar kits from a lady for $8 and $6 shipping, not the greatest deal I ever got but when the items arrived they were in this huge box and it was wayyy heavy....I didn't know what to make of it, I recognized the return addy as the woman I got the BB kits from but why were they in such a big box and why was it heavy?
When I opened the box there was a note on top saying ''thanks for buying the two kits and heres some other stuff I don't want to take the time to list because I don't know much about toy trains and I just want to get rid of them''
Well MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!! LOL there were 3 BB tanker kits [missing some parts that were easily replaced] a mixed dozen of older rolling stock,4 non-running locos [which needed a wire soldered or a cleaning and ran great afterwards] a pile of building parts, switches still in packages, figures and odds and ends......took me 2 hrs. to sort it out! I sent her a message asking why she didn't list all that as a lot and sell it and she said basically she was tired of it laying around everywhere and if her son had wanted it he would've put it away......well thanks to junior for being a slob!! lol
It's not a common thing to get a deal like that, but when it happens its pure gold!!

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
