Following on from the 1930s boxcars, and continuing with the backdating project, I have collected together all my 1930s-era hoppers, whether or not they are in 1930s livery. The first 2 are now undercoated and ready for decals and weathering.
The first is a Bowser Pennsy H21A quad hopper repainted from 1950s black keystone and with some handrails and brake wheel added
I still have the door furniture and locks to make as the originals are partly missing but I have some Tichy war emergency Gondola decals which should suit nicely.

The second model is a Westerfield kit for a Lackawanna B4 55ton SCC hopper, built in 1904. I had to modify it to include the 1919 safety appliances - namely the corner ladder grabs. This was about the single-most difficult kit I have built to date.
Next up will be a Westerfield 70t USRA triple hopper, although I still need to find/modify the correct trucks for it.
Another hopper has been added to the fleet (17) of 1930s hoppers. This time it is a Westerfield USRA 70t hopper as built in 1926 for the NYC. The decals are currently in the post.

I have just added the coal hopper video to You Tube. The loco is a modified BLI heavy 2-8-2 mikado, relettered for Erie and the train is my complete collection of 1930s coal hoppers.
I couldn't resist the silly smoke effects.
