For me the single loco that I want and need for my CB&Q layout, because it's so specific to my road and era, is a GE U23-C painted in the Burlington experimental, pre-BN merger green with white horizontal hockey stick side stripe. This paint scheme is the same as on the recently released Burlington P2K, SD-45.

Now THAT would make me a happy campe....er, model railroader.

A generic 2-6-0 with "modern" fittings. Superheater, piston valves, steel cab, modern looking dome and sandbox - not fluted, etc., etc.

A modernised version of the Bachmann Spectrum 4-6-0 with piston valves, superheating, modern looking dome and sandbox - not fluted etc.

A generic 2-8-0, smaller than the current Bachmann Spectrum and detailed as above.

A generic 4-6-2, smaller than the Athearn 4-6-2 and detailed as above.

A USRA 2-10-2 with small USRA tender.

If I were to pick a second and third,

SOUTHERN PACIFIC F-5 2-10-2

SOUTHERN PACIFIC AC-8 4-8-8-2

(Neither one very likely to be made outside of brass.)

If one of these were available in N scale, I'd make a reason to have one on my layout!

Give me some time. I'm working on it. I have to fini***he 2000 HP unit first. It'll have Stewart guts in HO.

I don't have a diesel guide in front of me, so I'm assuming these are identical (or nearly) to the Baldwin units, as Lima didn't last long independently in the diesel market.

How about one of ATSF's 2-6-6-2 passenger Mallets? They weren't around long, but would make a great model. Another great model would be the Espee AC-11 and AC-12 Cabforwards, with the semi-streamlined front end. We also need a good SP GS-4, not like the crap Bachmann one. (Although I think they are "Spectrumizing" it as we speak[:)])

C40-8M CN and BC Rail. Other than Kaslo shells, manufacturers just don't seem to be interested in draper-taper units

I want more than any other locomotive, for a CB&Q O-5 4-8-4 Northern to be done in plastic with sound. That would be awsome, but I bet it never happens unless BLI heeds the advice I gave them in a "model suggestion" e-mail...[:D]

I would like to see an SD-90MAC-H, in Union Pacific colors, Kato would be the logical choice, since the tooling for their SD-90/43 locomotive wouldn"t have to be changed very much, to produce the 6000 HP, SD-90 MAC-H, basically the angled roof panels over the prime mover, and a little different long hood doors arrangement, the only choice so far is expensive Overland brass, we UP modelers need it done in affordable plastic, starting with the phase one, and then the phase two models later.

I vote for the DM&IR M-4 2-8-8-4. ( I would say an ATSF 2900 class 4-8-4, but BLI announced the #3751, which is close enough for me)

Maine Central C-3 4-6-2 like MEC # 470

HO scale GE B23-7 in high quality plastic...Not the Bachmann Plus junk. I wonder if Athearn will reissue this engine now that they have Railpower shells? (A re-tooled version, no less?).

How about an HO scale SD-40 Tunnel motor that the Rio Grande used to run. Atheran has the SD-45T, but DRG&W did not run those.
