Worlds Greatest Hobby Show

Who all is planning to attend the WGH show this weekend in Sacramento?  It's at the convention center downtown.  I plan to be there, storm or not.

I'll be taking the kids on Sunday.  Have to drop them off in Sac anyway.  From the sound of the hype it sounds better than the regular show that I go at the Alameda Co Fairgrounds

From the looks of the weather I doubt I'll be skiing so I may well be there Sunday too.  I'm taking the girlfriend and her two boys, they are suppose to have layouts for children to run and lots of Thomas exhibits and stuff.

 Have fun.

I went but didn't find too much to buy--a couple of photos and a few parts. The ratio of toy-train/tinplate stuff to scale/MR stuff, and full-price dealers to used/discount dealers, was a little high for my tastes. I could have bought more, but I walked from home to the show (I only live about a mile away) and didn't want to lug a bunch of stuff. The show layouts were really great, I missed them at CSRM this Thanksgiving weekend and saw a couple (like the modular On30 club, the Z club layout (my eyes hurt just looking at it!) and the Northcoast modular club from Eureka) that I had not seen before.

I still had fun, though, and it inspired me to go home and do my first benchwork and trackwork in many months--plus I straightened up my workbench so I can actually work on it! Nothing like a train show to remind you how much fun this hobby can be, and stimulate the brain into a couple of new projects!
