What happen to Cuda Ken?

 Boy it seem like for ever sense I have been on the board. I will say one thing, selling on E-Bay takes a lot of time I don't seem to have!  But the bright side is the owner of K-10 Model Trains (all so named Ken) and I have became real friends rather me handing him money. To bad I could not get him to sell on E-Bay say a year ago! He now gives me great deals now that I have just about ever thing I want. Well there is the Tri Plex steamer that looks pretty sweet. I like big.

 As I may have listed my wife Sue Ann is all so working at K-10 Model Trains part time. It has worked out better than I hoped. She now has thing to talk about that happens at the store rather than what she is worried about.

 Down side is I have not found the time to work on the new K-10 mining company and again it has became a waste land of rolling stock not being ran. Boy I have way to much rolling stock. After the hoildays the other Ken is going to give me a hand with a proper bench and plain.

 We had are Christmas Party last Thursday and it was fun. It was open track time, in other words it was not a OPP night but run what you brung and dragg what you want. Longest train ran was 115 cars with 2 Dash 9 as lead engines and 2 SD 7 as helpers.

 I had been been running my PCM Y-6b with a 65 coal car drag and again I will state it is everthing I ever hoped a steam engine would be. Hit a 2% garde just keept on going with out slowing down at 1/4 thottle. Well it was time to push her and lashed up 40 more cars! Planing is ever thing and I missed plained this pull. Coming out of the yard she was pulling the drag but was a strain. Then I hit Caynon, it is the steepest spot on the layout with a 2.5 percet grade plus there was a few turns big as they are at 32" the Y-6 started spinning the drivers. With a little help from me she cleared the crest so it should be smooth sailing. Wrong, I took no care in lashing up the cars and after I was over the crest the rolling stock started to string line. By that time I was worn out, there is a lot of walking when you are running on a 60' X 81' bench.

 I was very happy and proud of the Y-6b, she pulled a real 45 foot coal train like it was nothing up the grade and more than a few folks asked me for details on the engine. Few asked if it was a Proto and how did I get it to pull that kind of load. Told them it was a PCM and they understood.

 For the I run junk people, the tyco Old Dutch Hoppers fleet is back on my home bench. Nothing like seeing 34 ODH hopper making the rounds.

Ken!  Good to hear from ya again, Bud.  You were one of the voices that seemed to have dropped out for a while.  I have a PCM Y6b waiting form me under the Christmas tree, so I will be able to swap stories with you.

It will be good to have a layout construction underway.  Nice friend, this Ken.  Glad, too, for your wife that she has something to occupy herself.

Well i heard he burned his fingers an wasn't able to type because he over heated the boiler

on his Y6B trying to pull 250 hopper cars

Is that a new trend in the hobby? I have notice solid trains of "billboard" cars from beer reefers to Morton Salt while attending train shows or visiting clubs..

I do find such trains interesting and off the beaten path that many of us trod.My favorite to date is a Purina Chow train.

hey cuda, ive known u for over 3 years now and i stil lcant get over the way you seem to obsess with number of car specific engine can handle and engine pull vs grades... always gotta remind myself you were a slot car and motor head b4 being introduced to the dark side

 Mls1621 I have hung up the Mopar Hat and now wear a BNSF hat. Besides the MOPAR hat was just nasty looking by now. Shaddy the Wolfhound one night decided to use it as a chew toy.

 As far as the old Dytch Hoppers not sure how I got hooked on them, must have been the colors. Main thing they did with your folks help was help me learn the art of working of model trains. 

 New bench, just did a cout. There are 75 engines and or rolling stock covering what I have done so far. I don't need a mining company I need a yard to park this stuff.

 Dave sometime I wished I had stayed with the slot cars but 99% of the time I glad I got into trains.

 Thanks for the answers and I am letting E-Bay sit on hold tonight, time to play trains.  But then again I need to make up a listings for some Walthers Tanks Cars and Husky Stacks. Nay time to let the M1a pull a drag.
