My Dm3 arrived today
Posted by Lillen on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 11:25 AM

Hi, today I recived my new DM3 engine, I ahven't been this excited about an engine for quite some time. It is a Swedish engine designed to drag iron ore and is quite strong.

I will try to get some better pics but here it is.

Magnus

Unless otherwise mentioned it's HO and about the 50's. Magnus

Careful that thing doesn't tear your arm right out of its socket, Magnus.  Shock [:O]

Is it motored in each unit?  If so, you won't have enough cars to slow it down. Cool [8D]

Very interesting set of engines.

The middle one is a dummy. It is made by Roco and they are very strong models both in reality and as models. Not as strong as the IORE though:

It is - hefty brutes. The Swedes built quite a few siderod electric engines. The Dm3 was the last (and most powerful in the series).

Here is a guide to Swedish engines: http://www.jarnvag.net/lokguide/guide.asp (in Swedish, of course - but the pictures are obvious, and so it effect in hp or kW). Siderod engine is called "Koppelstångslok" in Swedish.

Smile,
Stein
