"Email me replies to this post" option not working?
Posted by Dallas Model Works on Monday, December 3, 2007 10:57 AM

This option seems to have stopped working for me even though it is turned on in my profile.

Anybody else have this problem?

It has never worked for me.

Craig,

My e-mail and PM notifications have been "delayed" at times, as long as a couple of days.  I'll see what I can find out.

Just sent you an E-mail and a PM.
My PM has been acting a little screwy lately.

Craig,

I had this problem after they did their system upgrade this Summer. I still received all of the newsletters, but email notifications stopped. I had no spam filtering active on my computer or my ISP. I began receiving them again when I finally entered a different email address in my account information, and it's worked ever since.

Hmmm. I'll bet that's what happened as it's been awhile. I'll give your suggestion a try.

Thanks!

You want notified? I'll give you notified!!! You'll get sick of notified before I'm done wit'cha!

I (accidently) stumbled into notified on the The 'N' Crowd topic and went for two months trying to figure out why I got notified every time somebody made a The 'N' Crowd response.

Are you ready fer dis???

At the head of this page right under the GENERAL DISCUSSION (MODEL RAILROADER) heading you will find four boxes labeled 'PRINT' 'SEARCH' 'RATE' and 'NOTIFY'. Highlight 'NOTIFY', click your 'ENTER' or 'OK' button, the bell within the block gets set on, and you will be notified - on that designated post - until you get tired of being notified. When that happens turn it off and the notifications will stop.

Your 'email me replies to this post' has to be on but you still have to tell the system when you want to be notified.

RT,

The system sends you notification emails automatically for any thread you post to, as long as you have notification enabled in your preferences. The notification can be toggled on or off for any individual thread with the 'Notify' button you mentioned, however, all notification for me stopped after the last system upgrade no matter what I did until I changed the email address connected to my account. I think Craig has been experincing the same problem.

I made the mistake of checking that notification box on the XtrkCad forum. Now I get 10-15 messages a day about people asking for help because that software doesn't work very well.Whistling [:-^]

I don't have any idea what might have happened during that short downtime this summer; all of my troubles occurred back in January and February of this year. Looking back at the THE 'N' CROWD post where it all started for me I still can't figure out what I did to activate that NOTIFY box.
