BN Executive Engines
Posted by frisco1519 on Monday, December 3, 2007 9:36 AM

I know that Burlington Northern ran an F7A and F7B numbered BN1 and BN2. I also understood at one time they had a pair of E8's in the same paint scheme numbered BN3 and BN4. Does anyone know what ever happened to those engines? Seems they just went away and no one seems to know where they went.

Thanks,

George

They were donated to museums or sold off.  BNSF now uses standard freight engines to pull the Executive fleet.  IIRC, the F9 AB pair went to IRM....

My recollection too is that BN1 and BN2 ended up at IRM.  IIRC, BN3 had a significant prime mover problem and was deemed unrepairable by BN.  It may have went to IRM also.  I don't recall a BN4.

Here are links to the BN executive fleet.  Each page has a link (the locomotive #) to photos:

The two F's and the E9 all wound up at IRM.  According to the above E9A roster, a BN-4 number was allocated to another E9, but it was never renumbered and then retired.

Thanks very much for the reply. That helps me out a great deal. I have a set of the Athearn RTR BN1 and 2. I was thinking about painting an E9 up to run with my cars also.
