Seeking AT&SF and PRR Experts
Posted by jguess733 on Thursday, November 15, 2007 2:05 PM
In 1945 the AT&SF purchased 3 L-1 class 2-8-2's (#'s 882, 883, 884) from the Pennsylvania RR. Does anyone know if the Santa Fe converted them to Oil burners? The reason I ask, is that my small freelanced road set in the west and using oil burning steamers needs a small switcher. I really like the Bowser A-5 0-4-0. Would it be okay to slap an oil bunker on the tender? Or does the Belpaire firebox prevent this? I figure if a prototype Western Road can run an Eastern steamer then so can mine. Thanks for the help.

I cannot answer your questions, regrettably, but am asking if you had considered posting your interesting question in the forum for prototypes and modellers?  Here is the link:

You are sure to get a knowledgeable answer there if it goes unanswered here.

Thank you Selector, I thought I had posted it there. I guess I came in here by force of habit, lol. Anyway, I reposted it in there, and I'm hoping to hear from someone.
