Worn off decals?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, November 11, 2007 3:28 PM
I have a MDC Overton combine that seems to have had part of the roadname worn off.  (The lettering at the top now says "Denver &            Western".)  I don't have a permanent layout (honestly, not even anything that can even be considered a "layout") yet, so I'm wondering: is this maybe from handling it too often?  Is there also anyway I could get replacement lettering, or maybe find something close to it?

1. removing old lettering; 2. re-decalling; 3. Applying a dull coat.

Removal is TRICKY - often silk-screened 'inks' are applied over paints, and re-painting + clear coat is needed prior to an all new decalling.

Decal manufacturing involves photo-reduction and ink colors and sizes may vary from original artwork.

Try or Walthers or Microscale's Solvaset first.

I'm sorry; I didn't quite fully understand that.  Do I have to repaint the whole carbody before applying new decals?  The MDC 30' Overton Combine appears to be molded in color; can it not just simply be washed somehow?
